Building a Vibrant Community Through Dynamic Partnerships

"Enroll, employ, enlist - I want kids to know there’s a reason they’re at school and everyone there is going to hold them accountable because we care."

@fostoriasuper a.k.a. Jason Longbrake nailed his first podcast interview.

Originally he had dreams of being a wildlife specialist out west, but started his education at The Ohio State University working towards a degree in social studies education. His first role was as a teacher and he quickly progressed to principal in Swanton OH which was literally 1 hour from his doorstep in Fostoria. Jason got his Superintendent license and then the opportunity with Fostoria City Schools opened up.

You can tell Jason is passionate about Fostoria and our school system. He’s an insider who’s had experience from the outside. He can relate to the students and their surroundings and he’s excited about the amazing facilities Fostoria City Schools boasts. Of course, he’s also pretty pumped about his new 6-minute commute to work.

His best advice: Be yourself. Be honest.

He’s tried some unique approaches while he was a school principal - pushing the trash can around the cafeteria and handing out candy bars to teachers at random… Now, we’ll see what he does with some of the new requirements of education in things like grants, funding, and graduation.

Ignite419 Entrepreneur and Small Business Summit

Ignite 419 is currently the only forum where local professionals from all types of industry can ask questions of Northwest Ohio small business owners and leaders who are living the life they're living. We have designed a customized experience for each attendee through this event.

Most of us know that, on average, for every $100 spent in a locally-owned business, about $68 stays in the local economy. Whereas, if you shop at a national chain, that local investment drops to about $42 of $100. So that's why Ignite 419 is gathering local professionals together to share thoughts, ideas, and resources as it's so important to invest in the communities where we live, work, play, and worship.

The day includes a workshop for professional development, a keynote from a TEDx speaker, and then a diverse group of individuals serving on panel discussions during the afternoon. Our panelists range from CFOs, business and accounting professors, CPAs, employment attorneys, HR professionals in various fields, marketing and branding gurus from large and small operations, as well as fellow business owners who have built or successfully sold businesses to investors and developers. There will be an opportunity for free headshots with a local photographer and there's a business lounge where you can plug in or step away to answer pressing work calls. We'll cap off our day with a networking hour over refreshments and cocktails.

Ignite 419 is brought to you by the Fostoria Chamber of Commerce and Fostoria Economic Development. Registration will be open through October 1st. You can go to ignite419.com, to learn more about our panelists, more about the agenda, and register.
