Foundation awards grants and scholarships to worthy cohort at this year’s AGM

Last week, the Ottawa Jewish Community Foundation held its Annual General Meeting (AGM), during which a much-deserving cohort of grant and scholarship winners were celebrated. Recognizing individuals from within the Jewish Ottawa and beyond, they each are making meaningful impacts in their respective communities. We send our best to all who received awards this year and wish them luck in their future endeavours.

Dorot Legacy Reception celebrates community’s past, present, and future

Last month, the Dorot Legacy Reception brought together Federation donor societies to celebrate community leadership and invest in the future. This year’s Meyased HaDorot (Generational Founder) Award honoured Stephen Greenberg for his decades of philanthropy and impact. Attendees also heard innovative pitches from J-Fellows participants, with Club 613 earning funding to help strengthen connection and belonging among Ottawa’s Jewish young adults.

J-Fellows opens doors for
Ottawa’s emerging Jewish leaders

J-Fellows is the Jewish Federation of Ottawa’s flagship young adults’ leadership program. This year’s cohort was led by Federation’s Young Adults Associate, Oren Baray, who supported the fellows through their planning and presenting. Leading the program for the first time, he spoke about what an incredible learning experience it has been for him. We also hear from two of this year's J-Fellows alumni, Aliza Itskovich and Daniel Kurtz, about how the program positively impacted them.

BBYO Ottawa teen discusses

importance of getting involved

Rosanna Lerner is a local teen who participates in one of Ottawa’s BBYO chapters: Yad B’Yad BBG. Having recently been elected to her chapter’s board, she shares her thoughts on what BBYO (B'nai B'rith Youth Organization) means to her, and why she is eager to take on this new position. She also hopes to inspire other teens who may feel nervous about stepping into leadership roles that anything is possible.
