Miami Marlins Go Bald, Brave, Beautiful™ to Help Raise Funds for Miami Children's Hospital Cancer Patients |
Miami Marlins players, executives and fans stepped up in July to raise funds and awareness for the Miami Children's Hospital Cancer Center. Left Fielder Logan Morrison, who visited the children at the hospital, convinced several of his teammates, Marlins President David Samson, Marlins Foundation President Alfredo Mesa and fans to shave their heads before a recent game to support the Bald, Brave, Beautiful™ project at Miami Children's Hospital Foundation. Most importantly, more than 30 MCH cancer patients from Camp United Order True Sisters (U.O.T.S.) were on hand to see that being bald represents strength and beauty.

Additionally, Dr. Athena Pefkarou was presented with the State Farm Go to Bat Award for her work on behalf of cancer patients and Dr. Steven Swirsky threw out the first pitch at one the games.

MCH Receives Anonymous Donation of 10 New iPads |
Medical experts at Miami Children's Hospital believe that electronic devices such as iPads can be used to help distract patients from pain and assist with their recovery from various operations and treatments.
Due to the powerful effects technology can have on one's emotions and state-of-mind, it can help in the process of healing.
When Dr. Chad Perlyn, Co-chair of Miami Children's Young Ambassadors shared this information with the group of young business and community leaders, it took no more than a few days until Miami Children's received an anonymous donation of 10 new iPads.
Today, patients are able to use the iPads in the recovery room thanks to a very generous donor.
You too can make a difference by donating pre-approved electronics. Please contact Karen Araque at karaque@mchf.org or 786.624.2826 to learn more. |
Become a member of Walters Legacy Society |
Following the tragic loss of his six-year-old granddaughter Shannon from leukemia, Ambassador David M. Walters vowed that no child would ever have to leave Florida to receive world-class healthcare. In 1982, Ambassador Walters founded Miami Children's Hospital Foundation to meet that pledge. With the generous support of a caring community, Ambassador Walters devoted his life to raising the funds needed to make Miami Children's Hospital a world class children's hospital. Miami Children's Hospital Foundation continues Ambassador Walters' dream of supporting a world-class pediatric medical facility through its fundraising efforts.
