Our Plant Seeds for the Future fundraising campaign is ongoing. Help us to achieve the goal of $8,600 for 2023-2024.

Five Directors will be elected on April 6, 2024, at the ADSOEF Annual Meeting at the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grove City, Ohio. The ADSOEF Director Electronic Applications are due by February 1, 2024, and can be found at adsoef.org. Please consider joining the Foundation Team and apply!
February 1, 2024, is the deadline for Scholarship, Grant, and Fellowship Applications.

Keep Planting Seeds
for the Future!
The conclusion of a year is usually a good time to reflect and evaluate past goals and begin making plans for the future. As 2023 comes to an end, it is important to thank all of you who participated in National Philanthropy Day and Giving Tuesday. A very special thank you goes out to the two anonymous donors who so generously matched your contributions up to $1,000 each. This is an additional $2,000 on top of the donations that were made by our members. As of this publication date, the amount collected between November 15-28, 2023, $5,850.83. These donations will support OSO/ADSOEF grants, fellowships, programs, and scholarships awarded throughout 2024!
Although National Philanthropy Day and Giving Tuesday were major fundraising events, our goal of $8,600 for July 1, 2023-June 30, 2024, has not yet been met. If November was not a convenient time to contribute, perhaps a tax-deductible donation before the end of the year would be a better option. Also, remember if family members or friends need a holiday idea for you, a postcard and contribution form can be found at the adsoef.org website for them to honor you with a gift to the ADSOEF fund of your choice.
As the weather turns colder and the snow eventually falls outside our windows, we need to keep Planting Seeds for the Future! OSO/ADSOEF members can cultivate growth for the future of education through their generous donations...no matter what the season!

A Message from Olena Yasynetska
Dear All
It is my great pleasure and honor to write this letter in response to the request by Mrs. Barbara Smith, an outstanding personality, and my dear friend. I am Olena Yasynetska, an Associate Professor in the Department of English Philology and Translation at Horlivka Institute for Foreign Languages, Ukraine. It was in 2003-2005 that I studied for the Master of Arts in Linguistics at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. From the very beginning, on arriving in New York for the Fulbright students’ meeting, I felt happy to have been awarded the A. Margaret Boyd Overseas Foundation Scholarship. That was how I met so many wonderful caring people, including remarkably dedicated teachers, whom I will always remember and love as my special friends.

ATTENTION ALL OSO/ADSOEF MEMBERS
Now is the time to make a commitment to ADSOEF by completing your application to become a director. To have your name on the ballot at our Annual Meeting held April 2024 you need to complete the application by February 1, 2024.
Are you thinking, “Sounds like a lot of work.” “This is too complicated for me.” “Someone else will apply.” “I’m afraid I’ll mess up.” Whenever you take on a new job, just like teaching, there is a learning curve. But being a part of ADSOEF you are never alone! You are helped and supported by the current and past Board of Directors. There is an orientation meeting to help you get started and have your questions answered.
Maybe the questions you should be asking yourself are, “If I don’t step up, who will?” “What will happen to ADSOEF if no one steps forward to fill the director vacancies?” “What gifts/talents do I have to share?” Have you considered these questions? We need to keep ADSOEF alive with new ideas to help assure the mission is fulfilled! Every member of OSO/ADSOEF has talents and gifts that they can share to keep our organization strong.

Complete the application, click on the submit button and it will be sent directly to the Chairman of the Nominations Committee. Don’t hesitate.
