OSO Convention!

Things were certainly buzzing at the OSO State Convention!  A HUGE thank you to all who supported the ADSOEF Fundraising Raffle!!  Many of you bought tickets with a chance to win one of the lovely items donated by several of our generous members.  In addition to the raffle, our DKG/OSO ladies dug deep into their pockets, purses, socks, or any other place where they might keep their cash to make donations at the Birthday Luncheon.  The amount donated during the State Convention was $4,521.00 bringing the current overall total for this fundraising year to $20,298.00 That’s the way to Bee the Future of Education!

Hey Mom…Happy Mother’s Day!

With just over two months left for the Bee the Future of Education fundraising campaign, all donations are needed and appreciated.  Your ongoing  support of ADSOEF grants, fellowships, scholarships, and individual/classroom/community projects is invaluable.   As Mother’s Day approaches, consider donating in honor or memory of a special woman in your life. What a beautiful way to show your love for an extraordinary person.

The Educational Services Committee is delighted to share information about the completion of an Individual/Classroom/Community Project Fund grant. Julie Lombardo, Beta Rho, applied on behalf of her daughter, Monica Lombardo Todisco. Monica received $500.00 for her Media Arts Project to purchase a Cricut machine and supplies for her Media Arts class at Circleville High School. Below is Monica’s report about the impact this award had on her students.

Media Arts Grant-Alpha Delta State Ohio Educational Foundation

The Circleville Media Arts Program, supported by the generous funding of the Alpha Delta State Ohio Educational Foundation, utilized the grant to purchase a Cricut machine and associated supplies to enhance our students' creative and technical learning experiences. The grant enabled us to expand our ability to engage students in hands-on design, giving them the tools to create custom projects that support school spirit, community engagement and educational initiatives. The Cricut machine and supplies were integrated into several key projects throughout the year. A significant portion of the work focused on producing promotional signage for Spirit Week, where students designed and created vibrant posters, banners, and other visual materials that helped to promote school pride and foster a sense of community among students and staff. The designs were student-driven, encouraging creativity while reinforcing the importance of school culture. 

Additionally, the program launched a Kindness Marketing Campaign, in which students crafted personalized materials to promote acts of kindness within the school. Another focus was supporting an agricultural education initiative. Students used the Cricut to design and create signage and raise awareness about FFA programs. 



At the end of year, students will also have the chance to participate in a Design Your Own Product project. Students will be able to create personalized items, including water bottles, as part of their media arts curriculum. This project will allow students to showcase their individuality while gaining practical skills in design software, production, and branding. Overall, the Cricut machine and supplies provided students with the opportunity to enhance their creative, technical, and entrepreneurial skills, fostering a deeper connection between the Media Arts Program and various school initiatives. The Circleville Media Arts Program is grateful to the Alpha Delta State Ohio Educational Foundation for their investment in our students’ education, which has enriched their academic and creative development.

My First Semester at UC – Lesa Maria Triyanti

I can’t help but feel incredibly grateful for the opportunity to study at the University of Cincinnati. From the very beginning, I’ve been surrounded by inspiring and supportive people - whether it’s been Della, my fellow Indonesian Fulbright, or my professors who genuinely want to see us succeed. Looking back, I never really had a clear picture of what academic life in the U.S. would be like. I was constantly worried, filled with self-doubt, and asking myself questions like, “Will I be able to do this?”, “Is it even possible?”, and “Will people understand my English?” But as it turns out, it wasn’t as bad as I had imagined. I’ve managed to navigate everything just fine, and I’ve made the most of this first semester.

I am also deeply honored and incredibly grateful to have been awarded the $8,000 A. Margaret Boyd Fellowship to support my studies at UC. This fellowship has greatly eased my educational journey, and I feel so fortunate to be selected as a recipient. It has also been a wonderful experience to meet and learn from the many inspiring educators and mentors associated with DKG. I truly appreciate their dedication to empowering students and fostering a love for learning. This opportunity not only helps me financially, but also motivates me to give back and strive for excellence in my academic and future endeavors. 

What really stood out for me when I was at UC was how much I’ve learned - not just from my courses, but from the entire process of adapting to a new academic environment. I’ve found joy in the journey, in the challenges, and in the growth that has come with it. So far, my favorite courses have been Learning Science and Technology and Multimedia Studio.

*Registration Fee is $120.00, which includes the cost of theater tickets for Elvis Forever ($40.00); the day-long bus tour of the Amish Community around Millersburg/Berlin, Ohio; the Behalt Museum fee, and the luncheon meal at an authentic Amish home ($80.00).  ADSOEF will provide the bus, as well as the gratuities for the tour guide and bus driver.

May 1 and there will be no refunds after May 15.

ROOM RATES:  To take advantage of the DKG Room Block, room reservations must be made by May 1, 2025.  The cut-off date for reserving rooms in the Room Block is 5:00 p.m. local time at Encore Hotel & Amish Theater on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Be sure to mention the Group Name and Group Code when making your room reservation!  After that date, it is at the hotel’s discretion whether to accept additional reservations, which will be subject to prevailing rates and availability.

The room rates for June 11 and June 12 are as follows:           

*Deluxe Guest Room – the room rate is $129.00 each night ($146.00 with applicable state and local taxes or occupancy taxes included).

*Two Queen Suite room rate is $149.00 each night ($160.00 with applicable state and local taxes or occupancy taxes included).
