Start Planting Seeds
for the Future Today!
Now is the perfect time to donate to the 2023-2024 ADSOEF Fundraising campaign, Planting Seeds for the Future. Two different donors, who wish to remain anonymous, are offering matching gifts up to $1,000 each for all contributions that are donated between National Philanthropy Day on November 15, 2023, and Giving Tuesday on November 28, 2023. Your donation of any amount will be tripled with these two matching gifts! This is your golden opportunity to maximize your giving to benefit OSO/ADSOEF grants, fellowships, educational projects, and scholarships.
In recognition of the Ohio State Organization’s 86th birthday, the ADSOEF Fundraising Committee has chosen $8,600 as the goal of the Planting Seeds for the Future campaign for this year. This goal can only be met with the support of our DKG members across the state of Ohio. No amount is too great or too small. Through the generosity of the anonymous donors, your gift will go even further.
Please consider a donation for 2023-2024 to the ADSOEF fund of your choice. You may wish to honor or donate in memory of a special person. For more information and the opportunity to give to ADSOEF, you may use the link below or visit adsoef.org.
Let’s work toward the common goal of Planting Seeds for the Future of excellence in education. OSO/ADSOEF will continue to benefit educators and children in the years to come. Your donations do make a difference and are greatly appreciated.

There is so Much to be Thankful for…
We have arrived at that time of year when it is important to take a moment to show thanks to those around us. Your colleagues, your family (in whatever form it takes), your friends and neighbors…they all deserve their moment of appreciation in your life schedule.
Being the current chairman of the ADSOEF board I have found numerous individuals and many aspects of the Foundation that I am especially grateful for this Thanksgiving season. On my thankful list, I want to include, the other nine Board of Directors, the ADSOEF committee chairs and their team of committee members, the Ohio State Organization/ADSOEF membership, and the abundant number of benefactors and supporters, whose charitable contributions and donations advance the ADSOEF mission of educational excellence and the professional and personal growth of educators in our organization and Ohio…just to mention a few.
I am in awe of literally the hundreds upon hundreds of cumulative volunteer hours that it takes to have a functioning and productive organization such as the Alpha Delta State Ohio Educational Foundation. It is inspiring to witness firsthand the breadth and depth of the commitment of each individual who believes in the mission of our Foundation. There is no greater gift than surrounding yourself with those who inspire and encourage you and I feel blessed that these individuals do just that. I am truly humbled by and extremely fortunate to serve such an organization as ADSOEF. Many thanks to all who are involved in the many facets of this Foundation. Please know your involvement, no matter at what level, is valued and immeasurable. I am truly grateful to each and every one of you. The Foundation would not be what it is today without you…and with that, I know there is so much to be thankful for! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving season.
My infinite thanks and gratefulness to all,
Diana L. Kirkpatrick
Chairman of the ADSOEF Board of Directors
P.S. Do take time out of your busy November schedule to thank the important people in your life. Remember…a person who feels appreciated will always do more than what is expected.

A Word or Two from Your Board of Directors…
Each month in Foundation Matters, we look forward to reporting our progress! To date…
- The five newly elected directors have integrated very well in to the daily, weekly, and monthly operations of the Foundation. All committees are up and running… some committees may be running faster than others, but nevertheless, all are forward moving ever!
- At our October 16 Board meeting, Barbara Smith, Zeta Chapter and a member on the ADSOEF Nominating Committee, was welcomed aboard as a new 2023-24 Board Director. She is filling a board position vacated by a late summer resignation.

Mukadas Tashieva
I am Mukadas Tashieva from Kyrgyzstan (one of the Central Asian countries). I came through the Fulbright Foreign Students Program to pursue my master's degree in special education to enhance my professional skills in teaching children with disabilities. This field of study is almost new to my country. Since 2014, I have worked with children with special needs through the U.S. Embassy project “English Access Micro-Scholarship Program.” Through this program, I have taught a diverse number of students with varying degrees of disabilities and believe that education will be one of the best ways for children with disabilities to become a part of the mainstream society. It is my hope that the knowledge that I will gain at Kent State University and my experiences in teaching children with exceptional needs in the U.S. schools will help me to share and implement programs back in my country.
Another great experience is the cultural diversity that my family has been experiencing since arriving in Ohio in early August. I am here in Kent, Ohio, with my spouse and four children (three sons and one daughter) who are enjoying their American life. So far, we are adjusting well thanks to the friendly and supportive community in Kent. To highlight this, I would like to thank ADSOEF of the DKG organization (Gamma Pi, Delta Delta, and Mu chapters) for the warm welcome and great support for my fellowship study opportunities and assisting with our first-household needs. It was an unexpected surprise from the DKG chapter members, who were very nice and helpful to my family. Their generosity and warm atmosphere made us feel so happy and welcomed.
Many thanks to everyone for their support in my education journey to earn a master’s degree in special education at Kent State University.
