Happy Holidays!

May your holidays be merry and bright!  We hope the traditions you share with family and friends create many memories.

Take time to cozy up with a good book!  Sipping hot chocolate soothes the soul.

When it’s snowing, try to catch a snowflake on your tongue.  Then giggle and laugh!  Doing this with a young child is extra rewarding.

We look forward to the new year as we continue our mission. The mission of ADSOEF is to provide funding to serve charitable purposes relating to professional and personal growth of educators and educational excellence.

Peace and joy,

ADSOEF Board of Directors

A few reminders as the 2022 year comes to a close.

Our fundraising campaign is ongoing.

Contribution form and electronic donation information are found at adsoef.org

Matching gift of $1,000.00 is offered.  Can donors meet this amount by December 31, 2022?

Directors will be elected in April.  ADSOEF Director Applications are due by February 1, 2023.

February 1, 2023 is the deadline for Scholarship, Grant, and Fellowship Applications

March 25, 2023  - ADSOEF Presentation for Chi and Gamma Xi Chapters

Progress! Your contributions allow us to add concentric hearts showing $500 increments on our expanding heart graphic. By the end of November, $3,372.00 was donated to Open Your Heart for the Future of Education. Will we meet the match offered by a sponsor for a $1,000.00 gift?

Our goal is $8,500.00 in celebration of OSO’s 85th Anniversary. Your support is appreciated!

Year-End is a Time for Giving

Some considerations to ponder and possibly talk about with your tax professional.

A cash contribution to ADSOEF shows your support for the future of education and is greatly appreciated.  Each individual makes decisions about personal giving to charitable organizations.  Our educational foundation is a private non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization.  Additionally, a philanthropic gift to ADSOEF qualifies for a charitable income tax deduction if you itemize.  To the fullest extent permitted by law.

If you take a required minimum distribution (RMD) from an IRA or 403(b), you may wish to check with your tax professional about donating a portion as a “qualified charitable distribution”.  With a qualified charitable distribution (QCD), a check goes directly from the investment to the charity you select.  You do not show this as income, thus, are not taxed on the amount.

Check with your tax professional to determine a possible tax benefit of a charitable gift.

Opportunities are available for you, your DKG chapter, and your community

ADSOEF provides funding for activities that support professional and personal growth of educators in Ohio and promotes educational excellence for Ohio students.  Have you considered the availability of funds for professional development, a community project, or student needs?

The Individual/Classroom/Community Projects Fund provides up to five hundred dollars ($500.00) in financial support for educational projects that fund targeted learners in non-profit settings and community-based projects.  Apply for a project award for possible funds from ADSOEF for a service project supported by your DKG Chapter.  A team of community individuals can work together as long as a DKG member is the lead person and submits the application.  Help your community!

The Leadership Fund provides support to members for expenses related to developing leadership knowledge, skills, or experiences and provides support to members for expenses specifically related to leadership or board participation

The Lifelong Learning Fund provides support to members for expenses that encourage the ongoing, voluntary, and self-motivated pursuit of knowledge for either personal or professional reasons.

Do you know someone who will be student teaching in 2023-2024?  The Esther H. Strickland Student Teaching Grant is available for students in approved colleges and is awarded in the semester of the individual’s student teaching.  Application due date: February 1, 2023

Are you furthering your education and need monetary help to pay for the courses?  Consider completing a scholarship application. Due date: February 1, 2023

The Margaret L. White Scholarship is available for graduate study at The Ohio State University, the Ruth Grimes Scholarship is available at Miami University, the Florence L. Woodward Scholarship is available at Kent State University, and the Annie Webb Blanton Scholarship is available for use at any accredited university.

A. Margaret Boyd International Study Fellowship - an Ohio Fellowship may be awarded to an Ohio State Organization member doing graduate study in a foreign country.  Application is due by February 1, 2023.
