Matching Gift!! Giving Tuesday!!
Whoa! Did you hear that someone has OPENED THEIR HEART with a pledge for a matching gift to ADSOEF of $1,000.00? What does that mean? It means your donations are doubled up to $1000.00! Let’s make this happen by the end of 2022 and take in the gift before the New Year. In these crazy economic times, it is great to see contributions go as far as possible! TODAY is a great day to OPEN YOUR HEART and make that contribution to support grants, fellowships, scholarships, and program funds, plus take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!

From Your Foundation Directors
What a joy it was to see Chapter Presidents, OSO Officers & Committee Chairmen, plus past State Presidents on October 22. Our time together at the OSO Fall Executive Board Meeting was informative, giving important guidance for the year. Thank you to all who attended!
We are ADSOEF and proud to be DKG! This was our message as we thanked volunteers for serving to meet the mission of our Educational Foundation. The Fundraising Committee provided a game show, Chapter Feud to introduce the fundraising campaign Open Your Heart for the Future of Education. We invite individuals and chapters to contribute. Della Kartika Sari, our 2022-2023 A. Margaret Boyd Fellowship recipient, spoke to membership regarding her start at the University of Cincinnati. We are excited she is pursuing her doctoral study in Ohio and glad she wants to attend DKG functions.
Chapters may hear a presentation from ADSOEF Directors per request. Omicron chapter requested a visit for November 1, so Dr. Norma Kirby and Chris Snoddy shared information with the members in Marietta. Upcoming dates are already set for other chapter visits. Is your chapter on the list?
We welcome Holly Buente, Gamma Pi, as a Director! Holly was appointed to fill the unexpired term, October 2022 through June 2024, vacated by Judy Rank’s resignation. We appreciate Judy’s service and thank her for her time as a Director.
Let’s count our blessings as we enjoy time with family and friends over Thanksgiving!

Alpha Delta State Ohio Educational Foundation Needs You!
The membership of ADSOEF will elect new directors in 2023. The Board currently consists of 10 directors, one half of which are elected each year. Therefore 5 new Directors will be elected this spring.
You may be thinking, “Ok, thanks for this information” or “What does this have to do with me?” The mission of ADSOEF is to “procure funding to serve charitable purposes relating to professional and personal growth of educators and educational excellence”. The Foundation is YOUR Foundation. To ensure the achievement of the mission, OSO members must support the organization through donations, not just monetary donations, but the donation of TIME as well. Board of Directors meetings are currently via Zoom, every four to six weeks for two hours. Typically, the Directors are chairmen of a variety of committees that develop fundraising ideas, acknowledge donors, market the existence of the Foundation, and manage the funds over which ADSOEF are responsible.

Ema Lam, a 2022-2023 Esther H. Strickland Student Teaching Grant recipient gives us her midway story!
Do you remember your student teaching experience?
October 10, 2022
Dear Scholarship Committee,
I would like to update you on my progress, as this week marks the halfway point in my first semester of year-long student teaching in Wright State University’s Middle Childhood Education Program. I am a little embarrassed to say, I thought I may have more time this semester, but I found out quickly that the pace has really picked up! While there is little downtime between teaching, attending classes, and completing coursework, I am confident that I am being thoroughly prepared to teach.
