Sarah joined the Foundation in January 2020 having most recently served as Director of Learning and Evaluation. It is in this role that she has been responsible for establishing, growing, and fully integrating the organization’s focus in this area.

In her new position as Vice President, Learning and Foundation Operations, Sarah will continue to ensure the organization remains adaptable through leadership of its learning and evaluation approaches and is expanding her responsibilities to oversee efforts and functions in support of organizational strategy and performance, finance, and operations. Complementing this, she will also continue her leadership and partnership with staff from across the organization in support of the Foundation’s approaches to grantee experience and continuous improvement. Jenna comes to the Blue Cross NC Foundation with significant experience in the early childhood field having worked previously with the UNC Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute and most recently, at MDC, where she led their early childhood portfolio, partnering with philanthropy and community to advance systems change to benefit North Carolina’s children, families, and early education workforce.

She brings expertise in systems capacity building, implementation science, partnership cultivation, and facilitating learning communities. In her role as Director, Early Childhood, Jenna will leverage this experience to support grantees and other partners in helping transform the early care and education system to better meet the needs of all children and families.
