Dear Friends of the St. James Foundation,

The St. James Foundation participated in the St. James Service Club Nonprofit Fair on October 14. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with our neighbors, share information about the Foundation’s mission, and learn more about the many nonprofit organizations making a difference throughout our community. We enjoyed visiting with everyone who stopped by our table and thank the Service Club for bringing these organizations together.

We were also delighted to see the Foundation featured in the September 16 edition of the State Port Pilot. It’s always rewarding to share the Foundation’s work with the broader community and, more importantly, to shine a light on the educational programs our donors help make possible.

In this edition, we are also sharing some encouraging news about the significant academic growth achieved by Brunswick County Schools during the past year. We hope you’ll take a moment to read about these accomplishments and the dedication of the educators and students behind them. With the school bond referendum on the November 3 ballot, we have also included information to help you understand the proposal and its potential impact on our local schools.

Finally, please mark your calendars for Giving Tuesday on December 1. It's a wonderful opportunity to support the educational programs and initiatives that help create brighter futures for Brunswick County students.

Thank you, as always, for your continued generosity and support. Together, we are making a difference in education throughout Brunswick County.

Brunswick County Schools News

Big Gains, Bright Futures for Brunswick County Students

There's encouraging news coming from Brunswick County Schools. According to the district's recently released 2025-26 accountability results, 14 of the county's 20 schools met or exceeded academic growth expectations, compared with just eight schools the previous year. That's an impressive increase from 40% to 70% in just one year!

Even more encouraging, the district has already reached its 2025-26 growth milestone as it works toward its goal of having every school meet or exceed growth expectations by 2029.

Other achievements include five schools exceeding expected growth, seven schools improving their performance grade or designation, and 18 of 20 schools earning higher performance scores than they did the previous year. The number of schools identified as low-performing also dropped from five to two.

Several schools made remarkable strides, including Bolivia Elementary, Cedar Grove Middle, South Brunswick High School, and The COAST, which recorded the district's largest performance score increase.

These results reflect the dedication of Brunswick County's teachers, administrators, and staff, along with the hard work of students throughout the district.

At the St. James Foundation, we believe that investing in education strengthens our entire community. Seeing this kind of progress reinforces why supporting our local schools matters.

Giving Tuesday is December 1

Giving Tuesday: A Gift Today. A Legacy for Tomorrow.

Giving Tuesday is December 1, a global day of generosity and an opportunity to make a lasting difference right here in Brunswick County.

What makes the St. James Foundation of North Carolina unique is that we are an endowment fund. Unlike traditional fundraising efforts where donations are spent immediately, contributions to our endowment are invested to help generate funding for educational grants year after year.

That means your gift doesn't just support today's students. It becomes part of a lasting legacy, helping provide educational opportunities, innovative classroom resources, and career training programs for generations of Brunswick County students.

Your generosity today can continue making a difference long into the future.

This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to become part of that legacy. Every contribution, regardless of size, helps strengthen the Foundation's endowment and our commitment to education in Brunswick County.

Give Once. Make a Difference for Generations.

Every grant we award begins with the generosity of donors who believe in the power of education. Together, we are building a lasting legacy that will benefit students, families, and our community for generations to come.
