You Make it Possible! Thank you!

2023 Year-end Gifts by Fund

Thank you for your compassion and generosity! Our 2023 Holiday Year-end Campaign donations grew by 32% in comparison to last year, and the number of donors who gave grew by 77%! This means that more Southwest Idahoans can access care!

We depend on our Holiday Year-End Fundraising to help our neighbors all year long. Funds raised during this campaign make up 1/3 of our entire year's donations. Because of you, our impact is greater, and our mission can go further. Thank you for your kindness!

Social Drivers of Health (SDOH) Patient Screenings to Make an Impact

The metaphor above, attributed to Bishop Desmond Tutu, a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, perfectly describes our goal as a community health center. Unless we move beyond our clinic walls and address other factors that contribute to a person’s health, we’ll never create true, lasting wellness for our patients.

That’s why Terry Reilly has a renewed focus on addressing the Social Determinants or Drivers of Health - the non-medical factors of daily life that influence health outcomes.

If someone struggles with access to food, housing, healthcare, safety, transportation, or housing – then their ability to get and stay healthy is greatly compromised.

In order to identify those struggles for our patients, we are incorporating a Social Divers of Health screening into each patient encounter.

There’s a much larger set of circumstances at play that keep many of our patients from living a full, healthy life. When we ask the right questions – through the SDOH screening – we can help them with resources that reduce those inequities.

They won’t need to be pulled from the river if we build a bridge of support that helps them across.

2023 in Review

Heidi Hart, CEO

I wanted to take a moment of thankful reflection to highlight some of our growth and change as a company this year. Here are a few examples of the collective impact of your support this year…

  • We patiently guided 16,000 people through the often-complicated process of getting insurance or financial assistance to make their healthcare within reach.

  • We opened FOUR new clinic locations within 90 days – Homedale, Dearborn, Florence, and McClure.
  • We opened TWO more in-house pharmacies – Meridian and Homedale. With a total of six in-house pharmacies now, our team filled 98,033 prescriptions this past year (58% more than we did two years ago), making vital medication more affordable and convenient for our patients.
  • The Pharmacy Team administered 3,134 immunizations, a whopping 1364% increase from the total given just two years earlier.
  • We became a Certified Community Behavioral Health Center (CCBHC), which allows more people access to comprehensive, coordinated behavioral health care.
  • We’re growing Idaho’s clinical workforce with investments in MA and DA apprentice programs and a pharmacy residency. We’re launching a dentist residency with a partnership for physician residency not far behind.
  • Over 100 new employees joined TRHS this year, bringing our total team to just under 600.

All this growth and change is really to ensure high-quality health care for the 35,000 people who trust us for their care throughout the year.

On behalf of the Board, leadership team, and our patients………..thank you!

Because of you, María is Living

a Happier and Healthier Life

María had been struggling with asthma-like symptoms for some time. She came to Terry Reilly Health Services because she could receive care in her native language of Spanish.

She was very alarmed because she struggled to breathe and even speak, “I really didn’t know what to do and feared for my life.”

With her throat restricted to 85% of its capacity, provider Brian Bizik was able to use his expertise to turn her case around and referred her to a specialist. After a successful surgery and recovery, María has returned to normal life, once again able to work and enjoy time with her grandchildren.

With tears in her eyes, she describes the life-changing care she received,

“Terry Reilly saved my life. The care that provider Brian gives is amazing. I owe Terry Reilly everything.”

TR Pharmacy Resident Receives

Research Award

We are proud of Amy Bibik, our pharmacy resident, who received the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) research award. Only eight of these $5,000 grants are awarded nationally.

Amy's research project focuses on social drivers of health barriers for uncontrolled diabetes patients. 24 Terry Reilly patients are participating.

Her research emphasizes the importance of comprehensive diabetes care that includes the integration of behavioral health counselors for motivation, patient navigator services for resource access, and non-pharmacological approaches to achieving diabetes control.

The goal is to confirm that diabetes care - paired with an interdisciplinary team and routine visits - will improve A1c levels compared to current standards of care.

New Terry Reilly Vista Office

Terry Reilly and the City of Boise are working together to expand case management services to tenants of City of Boise-owned housing.

A team of three Terry Reilly case managers will meet with people at our new office located at 2717 S. Vista Ave., Suite A. The office is in a historic motel that serves as city rental housing.

The goal is to prevent housing instability and help residents move toward their own mental and physical health goals, much like Terry Reilly's services at New Path Housing.

The City of Boise owns and operates over 100 rental units, ranging from studios to single-family homes with 2-6 bedrooms.

Housing is one of the Social Drivers of Health priorities at Terry Reilly.

Quality Awards from HRSA

Terry Reilly Health Services has earned two awards from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)!

HRSA annually reviews the performance data of health centers across the United States and then highlights the organizations that meet or exceed goals in categories of special focus, such as improving health equity, access, and other quality measures. It bestows the top performers with its Community Health Quality Recognition badges.

Our work addressing social risk factors is among the top in the country. Not only do we screen for environmental situations that affect health, such as housing and food insecurity, but we have boosted our supportive services to help people along the road to better health.

Another national recognition we received was for dedication to adopting new technologies to improve access and delivery of healthcare.

Patient Feedback Groups

We are recruiting members for our Patient Feedback Groups with the goal of listening to patients as they share their experiences with Terry Reilly. This feedback will be valuable in helping us both celebrate and evolve to meet the needs of our patients and community. The three areas of focus are: Hispanic & Migrant Health, Behavioral Health, and Housing Insecurity.

These groups will share their thoughts on a variety of topics including how we are meeting their health care needs, our facilities, interaction with care providers, and how we partner and engage with the community. The groups will be facilitated by our own Terry Reilly staff. Our leadership team will use the information to ensure that we're working on delivering good care.

Terry Reilly Give Kids a Smile is April 6th

History of Give Kids A Smile

The Give Kids A Smile (GKAS) program provides free care at events all around the country - providing treatment and screenings to over 300,000 children each year!

In 2002, Drs. Jeff Dalin and B. Ray Storm held the first Give Kids A Smile (GKAS) event in a run-down, soon-to-be-demolished dental clinic in St. Louis, where 15 patient chairs were scraped together to deliver free dental care to nearly 400 children.

The American Dental Association recognized that this grassroots effort had great potential to raise awareness nationally about the importance of oral health to overall health, and about the staggering need that exists among millions of children who go without care. So, in 2003, Give Kids A Smile evolved into a nationwide program.

It's tax season. Do you need a copy of your donation receipt?
