Accomplishments of the 2021 Foundation Night

The Foundation Board worked busily behind the scenes, but it was YOU who made Foundation Night a success. We thank you for your participation, generosity and patience. It all paid off in a big way and will make a huge difference in many lives.

Our main goal is to raise money to support our programs, but your experience at the meeting should also be informative and fun. Due to the resounding success of the evening, we are certain that all our objectives were met.

Foundation Night 2021 proved to be stellar! We promised lively entertainment and Silent and Live Auctions to rival any we have had in person. You came, you bid and you purchased charms and quilt tickets.

EVERYONE deserves a pat on the back and a loud round of applause for their part in a very successful fundraising evening. The entire evening resulted in fundraising sales of $30,475!

You proved this axiom true: We are all still in this together...
And together we will continue to impact the world in a phenomenal way!

The FAWCO Foundation is YOUR Foundation. Please don't hesitate to contact anyone on the Board if you have ideas, recommendations or questions. We love to hear from you!

Looking forward to "seeing" you all soon,

Silent Auction
OneCause (formally BidPal) is a powerful platform that allowed us to fundraise with our popular Silent Auction via online bidding. The auction ran for the entire week of March 13-20. There were 75 items up for bids and all were sold to the tune of $8835!

Many thanks to our Silent Auction coordinator, Carol-Lyn McKelvey (AIWC Cologne and FAUSA) for beautifully managing this new platform!

Live Auction
The Live Auction took place Saturday evening, March 20 on zoom. The festivities began on the Hopin platform with a beautiful performance of words and music by Robin Meloy Goldsby (AIWC Cologne), who generously offered her time and talents for our listening pleasure, and then moved to Zoom for auction. We maxed out the 100 participant capacity and had many more who watched on Facebook.

The Live Auction offered four wonderful experiences:
two for travel, a little history and some wine!

A week's stay at a Kauai Beach Resort and a week at a Belgian Coast Home were both so popular that each owner graciously offered an additional week to a second matching bidder - that made for some big smiles! Bidding was also fast and furious for the exclusive look at the private Atlanta offices of Former President Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn Carter. All told, the results for the Live Auction amounted to $8750!

Kanika Holloway, (AWC Antwerp) served as this year's very enthusiastic auctioneer. Well done and thank you, Kanika!
2021 FAWCO Friendship Quilt
The winner of the 2021 FAWCO Friendship Quilt Raffle via the "Wheel of Names" was:
Melissa Rider of AWC The Hague!!

The Quilt, designed and quilted by Roberta Zöllner, was made from 120 donated squares from 34 members of 15 FAWCO clubs and FAUSA.

This year's Quilt name "Common Threads" came from Carol Kiely of AWC Dublin in the first ever Quilt naming contest. Congratulations!

The Quilt is always a huge undertaking. Heartfelt thank-you's go out to Roberta, the Quilt square donors, Carol, and Quilt ticket purchasers all over the world,
who helped make $5365 in donations a reality!
Development Grant and Education Award Recipients
For FAWCO and FAUSA and individual members, the awards promote international understanding and goodwill. The Program rewards and honors academic excellence and the all-around achievements of our members and their families.

The 2021 recipients plan to study in the U.S. or abroad at the high school, undergraduate and graduate levels.

The FAWCO Foundation Development Grants financially assist projects which are passionately supported by FAWCO Member Clubs and FAUSA.

The 2021 recipients will make a change in people's lives all over the world! Thank you to all the clubs for your nominations and a huge thank you to all the clubs who voted for them!

The Foundation Board

It is a pleasure to welcome Maureen G. Beals (AWC Madrid) to the Foundation Board. We look forward to working with her in her position as secretary. Maureen replaces Louise Greeley Copley (AWEP & FAUSA) who served on the board from 2017-2021. We wish Louise all the best and will miss her dedication to The Foundation and sense of humor.
