August 2023
A Message from Our President & CEO
Pictured left to right: Paula Deacon Garcia, DuPage County board member; Megan Shebik, DuPage Foundation trustee and DCTP chair; Mike Sitrick, DuPage Foundation president & CEO; and Deb Conroy, DuPage County board chair; accepting the National Association of Counties award for the DCTP on August 8.
As summer comes to a close, it’s energizing to reflect on all we’ve accomplished together these past months from an impact standpoint for our community, and to look ahead to our remaining work for the rest of 2023 and beyond.

As you’ll read below, our DuPage Community Transformation Partnership (DCTP) with DuPage County recently distributed nearly $1.3 million in grants to 18 area social service not-for-profits in its latest round of Intermediate Intervention grants. It also earned national recognition from the National Association of Counties (NACo) as an innovative, effective county government program that strengthens services for residents.
We are extremely proud of the impact this partnership is having on our community and hope it inspires similar transformational partnerships for other communities throughout the nation.

Our Bright & Early DuPage (B&ED) initiative also recently awarded nearly $275,000 in support of eight local early childhood education collaboratives. I can’t stress enough how important investing in these systems is to the development, well-being, and long-term success of our area children. Our partners are doing phenomenal work in this space and the Foundation is proud to lead in supporting their efforts.

Our staff and volunteer leaders have also kept busy hosting, sponsoring, and presenting for a range of community events and educational programs; welcoming new volunteer leaders; and, as always, supporting our donors and not-for-profit partners in accomplishing their charitable goals.

I hope you enjoy the updates that follow and look forward to connecting with you in the days ahead. Please reach out to any member of our team if we can be of service to you.

Meanwhile, thank you for your continued partnership and support of DuPage Foundation. We appreciate your ongoing confidence and trust and look forward to continuing to work together to raise the quality of life throughout our community.

Sincerely,
Mike Sitrick, JD, CFRE

Our condolences to the family of Foundation friend and Glen Ellyn resident James E. Drasal, who recently passed away at age 85. Jim was the beloved husband to Marie (Granum), a father of three children, and a grandfather and great-grandfather to many more.

Jim attended Farragut High School and went on to graduate from Beloit College in 1959. He was in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

Jim was a pilot for American Airlines for 30 years, where he attained the rank of Captain. He was involved in many local organizations, including the B.R. Ryall YMCA and Kiwanis Club of Glen Ellyn, and he provided personal and financial support to many local organizations. His hobbies included fishing and home improvement projects. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
