MASTERMIND

Nathan Johnson, of the Napoleon Hill Foundation, quotes Hill saying, “No mind is complete by itself. It needs contact and association with other minds to grow and expand.” Johnson further states, “The proper use of a mastermind group is the cornerstone of all great achievement, and it is one of the steps that people most often overlook. On our own, we can only ever have a limited amount of experience, a mastermind group allows us to draw freely from the experience, training, skills, and knowledge of others who align with our definite major purpose. The resulting benefits include a magnification of the combined qualities of each member, as well as increased courage, faith, and a host of other positive advantages. In other words, on your own, you’re a single brushstroke, but in a mastermind group you could become a Monet.”


The rugged individualist was in vogue at the start and growth of the Science of Mind and New Thought movements. The emphasis was on the self-contained power of each person, logically an individualization of Spirit that is all intelligent and powerful. A logical argument does not guarantee the complete truth of a matter. For instance, there was little or no emphasis on the power of relationship. Process Science of Mind, in keeping with Process Theology, recognizes everything in the universe is related to everything else. We are interrelated entities. Thus, even the so-called individual consists of a serial order of entities—a group. As philosopher Alfred North Whitehead said, “The many becomes one and is increased by one.”


Each entity does not come with the total knowledge of which a group consists. Mastermind is an attitude of drawing upon the combined minds in a group, formulated for a specific purpose. In a simplified sense, each individual shares his or her knowledge to the enrichment of all. Thus, in being better informed, reinforced and acknowledged, every member becomes more highly motivated and the individuals thrive and flourish in ways that they were not likely to do singly.


The Mastermind notion recognizes that Spirit manifests differently in each entity. Therefore, each member of the group can benefit more richly from the diverse relationships than they are likely to do individually. Simply stated, Science of Mind participants can add this needed dimension to their spiritual practice and reap the great results that Mastermind groups do all over the world.


The group value cannot be overestimated. Mental health flourishes when there are such harmonious groupings. As relational beings, we benefit from such positive interactions in vital ways.


Each morning, three older women walk by our home. The probability is high they are in better physical health because of their consistent effort. It is, perhaps, an equally high probability that individually these women would be less inclined to make this effort, which feeds them spiritually, mentally, physically, social/emotionally and environmentally. How enriching!


Although these women may not think of themselves as a Mastermind group, to the end that a group serves a common purpose and improves the wellbeing of its members, it is.


At Founder’s we need to form Mastermind groups to improve our wealth, health and wellbeing and spiritual growth. Napoleon Hill said it, “No mind is complete by itself. It needs contact and association with other minds to grow and expand.”

Specific Bequest: You may decide to make a specific dollar amount to Founders or a specific item of property. Example: Shares of stock.

 

Residential Bequest: You can be sure to provide for your family and friends first, but you can still leave Founders the balance of your estate after your beneficiaries have received their gifts.


Contingent Bequest: You may wish to include Founders as a beneficiary in your will only under certain circumstances. For example, you may wish to name Founders as a beneficiary of your estate if certain named individuals do not survive you.


Other Documents: You can add Founders as a beneficiary to your Retirement account, your check/savings accounts, or your life insurance policy.

Equally we must not have fear for the future. “I see that the future is bright with promise. It beckons me forward into a more complete realization of my own worth and my rightful place in the Universe. All my tomorrows will be happy and filled with harmonious occupations. I look to the future with great and pleasurable anticipation, knowing it will expand my opportunity for radiant self-expression. I love my past and my future and understand that they are but continuations of the one unbroken chain of life. There is no future to be afraid of and no past to bring discord into the present.”

Such statements will tend to erase any negative stream of causation that may have been set in motion in the past.

Exercises for Better Sleep

Aerobic Exercise

If you deal with insomnia, then cardio workouts, also called aerobic exercise, such as swimming, biking, jogging, or walking, may help you sleep. You may also see some improvement in sleep apnea symptoms. Some studies suggest moderate-intensity cardio is better than more intense exercise for sleep health.

Cardio Workouts

Another benefit to continued cardio workouts is more restful sleep. Moderate aerobic exercise -- the kind you can do and still hold a conversation -- increases the amount of deep sleep you get. Deep sleep is when your body and brain rejuvenate.

Resistance Exercises

Also called strength training, resistance exercises such as sit-ups, push-ups, and weight lifting build muscle. Research suggests regular bouts of these moves could improve sleep as well as lower anxiety and depression symptoms that hinder sleep.

Yoga

Studies show that for certain groups of people such as adults over 60, women with sleep problems, and women with type 2 diabetes, a regular yoga practice can improve the quality of sleep you get each night.

Breathing Exercises

Taking a few minutes each night to do deep breathing lowers your blood pressure, creates calm, and relaxes your body to get it better prepared for a night of good sleep.

Stretching

Adding simple stretches to your bedtime routine can improve blood flow and relieve muscle tension so you’re better relaxed for sleeping. Some studies show stretching can increase the amount of rapid eye movement (REM) sleep you get, which is when your brain organizes and stores memory.
