Outdoor Dining - It's Here to Stay!

The City Council approved new standards for permanent outdoor dining for Fountain Valley restaurants at its regular meeting on July 20, 2021. Back in June of 2020, the City created a Temporary Emergency Use Permit to allow restaurants to expand their dining areas onto private sidewalks and parking lots to accommodate customers and maintain proper social distancing limits. These permits will expire at the end of September 2021; however, there is a continued desire for restaurant patrons to dine outdoors.
Recreation and Community Services Update

The Recreation Center is in the final stage of the interior project re-model of the kitchen, lobby entrance area, Parkview A & B and Sunridge rooms. Currently the target date for project completion is October 8, 2021. We are so excited to be able to share the renovations with the community upon completion. We will have new and improved customer accessibility to the rooms to include an open concept feel of the lobby and two amazing rooms for classes, weddings, and parties for special events.

Fountain Valley Welcomes New Building Division Staff
On July 6, 2021, these familiar faces at the front counter and building job sites became a part of the City family. Since 2010, contract staff from Charles Abbott and Associates have handled building inspections, plan checks, and building permit processing. Earlier this year, the City Council approved bringing these functions back in-house as a cost savings and customer service measure.

Are My Takeout Containers Recyclable?

Some plastic takeout containers are recyclable. To determine if the takeout containers are recyclable, look on the bottom for a recycling symbol with a number inside. Usually #1-2 are recyclable (recyclable materials are different depending on location and processing). Clean paper containers can be recycled.
