District staff, parents, Trustees, community leaders, and even students have worked together with LPA Architects, Inc. to create a detailed Facilities Master Plan (FMP). The District's newly developed FMP identifies a vision for the next 10 to 15 years and provides a road map to coordinate short and long-range goals for our school buildings.

HIGHLIGHT: History and Science in FVSD
|
As FVSD looks for new ways to prepare our students for high school, college and beyond, our teachers have engaged in inten
sive professional development, not only in the areas of math and English, but at the middle school levels in history and science as well. Similar to the other subject areas, for the past two years, these teachers have met several times throughout the year to share lessons and learn from experts in the field such as UC Irvine (history) and Orange County Department of Education (science). As a result, our middle school history classes are asking our students to analyze more primary source documents through both hands-on experiences and writing prompts. And in science, our teachers are exploring the upcoming shifts in the new California Science Standards, also known as Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), with a greater emphasis on engineering practices and collaborative student activities.
We are extremely proud of the work being done by our teachers in all subject areas not only to connect professionally with one another, but to constantly seek more ways to engage our students in deeper thinking, analysis and excitement across the curriculum!

LOOK OUT FOR:
LCAP P
arent Input Survey
|
In 2013, the State of California changed the way education is funded. School districts are required to develop a Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) that includes input from students, teachers, parents, and community members on the goals, actions, and budget priorities. Please take a few moments to assist us with this important process. We have already received hundreds of responses and are hoping to receive even more. Your input matters! You can access the survey through Sunday, January 22nd in English or in Vietnamese.

Our theme for 2016-17 is The FVSD IMPACT, as we focus our efforts to IMPACT ALL students in the Fountain Valley School District. We hope that you will join us in documenting your IMPACT on students and the amazing moments happening in our schools by tagging your photos on social media #myFVSDImpact.
