District Roundtable October 11

The Constellation District Roundtable is back! After a restructuring break, the first of our quarterly, in-person Roundtables will be on Tuesday, October 11 at 7:30 pm (location being finalized). Our theme for this Roundtable is Membership and Recruiting. Leaders and Committee Members from Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, and Venturing Units are encouraged to join us to:

  • Learn how the District can help your recruiting efforts.
  • Get ideas on how to promote your Pack, Troop, or Crew.
  • Discuss options for Family Cub Packs and female Scouting in the District.
  • Share your ideas and experiences with other units.

Now that Roundtables are only once every three months, we hope you can make a special effort to join us for learning, sharing, and fellowship.

Scout Day at the National Constitution Center October 15

Once again, the National Constitution Center is hosting a Scout Day on Saturday, October 15 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA members can enjoy an action-packed day full of programs and activities, including theatre shows, interactive trivia games, workshops, and the opportunity for Scouts to earn Merit Badges. Discover more about the branches of the federal government, American elections, the jury system, and careers in the legal field.  The cost of the event is $14 per Scout and advanced registration is required.

District Camporee

Join fellow Troops of the Constellation, Minquas, and Baden Powell Districts at the annual Tri-District Camporee, being held this year October 21 to 23 at Green Lane Park (Perkiomenville).  This year's theme is Pirates of the Caribbean, and will include using knots to creating a Spanish Windlass, using map and compass to find buried treasure, and firing a cannon?!  It promises to a fun-filled weekend.  Come for the day or camp for the weekend.

Fun Fact to Know

Treasure Island is a long-time Scout Camp owned by the Cradle of Liberty Council, situated on two islands in the middle of the Delaware River. It was the oldest continually operated Boy Scout Camp in the country from 1913 until floods led to its closing in 2008. Treasure Island has a long history in Scouting, including being the birthplace of the Order of the Arrow in 1915.

The camp has been reopened and is operated by the Friends of Treasure Island; it is once again available for Scouts for free weekend camping and conservation projects. You can learn more or make reservations at www.friendsoftreasureisland.org.
