Earth to Boca

The SYMPHONIA, South Florida’s premier chamber orchestra, will present the second concert in its ‘Inspired, Naturally’ season on Sunday, December 4, at 3 p.m. at Roberts Theater at Saint Andrew’s School in Boca Raton. Each concert within the series is inspired by one of the earth’s natural elements, and the theme for this performance is ‘EARTH.’ Alastair Willis will be principal conductor and Kinman Azmeh will be the clarinet soloist.

This concert will take in all the wonders of the Earth. Beginning at Fingal’s Cave off the west coast of Scotland with Mendelssohn’s evocative Hebrides Overture, The Symphonia will begin with a mesmerizing visit to Syria with internationally renowned

clarinetist and composer Kinan Azmeh, and conclude with ‘Terra Nostra,’ the award- winning multimedia symphony by Christophe Chagnard that combines stunning visuals with the power of symphonic music and explores the impact and challenges of climate change. Kinan Azmeh was recently nominated by President Biden for the US National Council for the Arts.

‘Inspired Naturally’ was inspired by Terra Nostra, an award-winning multimedia symphony by Christophe Chagnard and produced by Earth Creative that combines mind- blowing visuals with the power of symphonic music and explores the impact and

challenges of climate change. The film will serve as the backdrop for The Symphonia’s December concert.

Information on flex-subscriptions and single concert tickets and programs is available at thesymphonia.org, by calling 561-376-3848, or by emailing tickets@thesymphonia.org.

Pre-Concert Conversation:

A Pre-Concert Conversation hosted by The Symphonia’s Principal Conductor, Alastair Willis, in conversation with guest conductor, Andres Cárdenes takes place from 2-2:30 p.m., giving ticket holders an opportunity to learn more about the works to be

performed that afternoon. Free for concert ticket holders.

Tune into to the American Songbook Saturdays from 8-midnight. On the November 26 program, host Dick Golden will include a tribute to cornetist Bobby Hackett, a duet with Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse, Louis Armstrong with the Duke Ellington band, the Benny Carter Jazz-All-stars, and singer Michael Feinstein. American Songbook with Dick Golden is heard on 91.1 FM, WQCP and online at WQCP.org.

Tiny Magnificent Miniatures

Every school year, teachers reach into their own pockets to purchase items for their classrooms and students in order to make the curriculum more interesting and exciting for their students.

The Fort Pierce Art Club recognized this devotion to creativity by teachers and created the exciting, collectable Magnificent Miniature Masterpieces’ silent auction. This year will be the club’s third year. One hundred percent of the proceeds go directly to local schools to help the art teachers purchase items they need for their students.

This year’s participants include a total of 90 students from the following high schools: Central High, Lincoln Park Academy, and Westwood. Each school will be presented with a $500 check at the Saturday, December 18 celebration for their arts programs in addition to cash prizes to the winning students and local artists.

The Fort Pierce Art Club 2022 Magnificent Miniature Masterpieces is open to all artists wishing to participate in this worthy cause. Details on how to enter are available on Facebook @fortpierceartclub and at www.fortpierceartclub.org. Entry fee is $10. The deadline is December 5, 2022. Artists may pick up entry forms which include a 3”x3” canvas and easel to enter at several locations listed on the website as well every Monday at the club’s art programs: Art on the Porch and Art after Work.

The 2022 silent auction starts on Wednesday, December 14 through Friday, December 16 in the St. Lucie Cultural Alliance Vault located at 111 Orange Avenue, Fort Pierce from 11 AM to 4 PM and during ArtWalk from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The auction concludes on Sunday, December 18, with a celebration and awards for the winning artists and student artists and the final purchases of miniatures by the public from 3 PM to 5 PM in Harmony Music Lounge’s gallery located at 116 Avenue A, Fort Pierce.

All proceeds go to local schools and to scholarships at Indian River State College. The Fort Pierce Art Club, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) and donations to the club are tax deductible in accordance with the tax laws.
