We are hosting many events this fall - we hope you can join us!
Abel Endowment “ACES” grant apps due November 9
“ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences)” was the topic of a presentation by National Louis University to an audience of social service agencies, teachers, nurses, workforce services, counselors, and mental health providers on October 9 th . The main point is that community resources and activities help reduce the long-term effects of ACES. So many organizations’ programs are already addressing ACES but didn’t realize there’s a term and method behind it.
We at the Foundation are excited to have the ACES framework and lens to look through as we continue to convene stakeholders via the Grundy Partnership for Children, Grundy County Interagency Council, and the Behavioral Health Alliance. By understanding ACES and how to approach it, we can better assess who’s doing what in Grundy County, identify gaps, encourage collaborations, and measure impact and outcomes.
In addition, we are using the Gerald D. Abel Endowment to fund grants to organizations at the presentation who apply with ideas for existing and new programs that directly tie to ACES. Those grant applications are due November 9 th . Agencies with grant questions can contact Devan at  or 815-941-0852.
Hands-On 8th Grade Career Fair
The Hands-On 8 th Grade Career Fair will be Tuesday, October 23rd. This event is for all 8 th graders in and around Grundy County and they will attend as a school field trip.

We thank the Twilight Fund at the Community Foundation of Grundy County for sponsoring the expo pipe and drape. We also thank GAVC for their organization of this event and thank you to the Business Education Council for their support.
