When more than 2,500 students from South Seattle and South King County were asked about their aspirations, 95 percent of them said they wanted to go to college. Our students have big dreams for their futures.

Yet, public schools in our region are not supporting students equitably. The same survey shows that when it comes to getting information about college, students of color, who are more likely to be first-generation students, rely more on school staff than their families. DiscoverU is a great opportunity for schools to provide college and career information and resources during the school day to ensure equitable supports for students of color.

Friday, Oct. 12, is #LeadYourCommunity Day! Schools will be out, but nonprofits and public sector organizations across the region will be i ntroducing students to community-oriented work and connecting them to leadership opportunities in their neighborhoods and outside of the classroom.

On that evening, the Road Map Project Community Leadership Team will be hosting a DiscoverU 2018 Celebration at Tukwila Community Center and all families are invited!

Please RSVP for a fun night of youth performances, a delicious multicultural dinner, college and career resources, and more! Free and open to everyone.

DiscoverU encourages our community to come together and promote college and career exploration for the region's youth.
Teachers, school staff, and community partners lead fun and engaging college and career exploration activities, in school and the community, that help students think about their futures!
DiscoverU puts student interests at the center and helps connect their aspirations with the many pathways to get there.
