Bridge Group 18C_R – Frenchtown, East Greenwich/ North Kingstown

To continue demolishing a portion of the Frenchtown Road Bridge, we plan to detour traffic over four consecutive nights on Route 4 North, then Route 4 South, keeping Frenchtown Road open to traffic and accessible from Route 2. On Sunday and Monday nights, September 21 and 22, Route 4 North will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists should take the South County Trail (Route 2) North off-ramp, follow Route 2 North to Division Street, then use the on-ramp after the Showcase Cinemas for Route 4 North/I-95 North.

On Tuesday and Wednesday nights, September 23 and 24, we’ll need to close Route 4 South beginning at I-95 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. The on-ramp from Division Street East to Route 4 South will also be closed. All traffic coming from I-95 should use Exit 24A and follow Route 2 South to the on-ramp to Route 4 South near Clementine’s Ice Cream. The ramp to Route 4 South from Route 403 West (coming from the Quonset Business Park) also will be closed. Detour using Route 4 North to Exit 9B (Division Street) West, then follow Route 2 South to the Route 4 South on-ramp. Learn more here.

I-95 15 Bridges, Providence/Cranston/Warwick

As we form and place rebar for piers at two bridges, install deck supports at another, and drive piles at a third bridge within this project, we’ll have alternating lane closures on both directions of I-95, from Park Avenue to Thurbers Avenue, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. On Friday night, September 26, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., we anticipate shifting traffic to the right on I-95 North, from Elmwood Avenue to Thurbers Avenue. This will help us facilitate construction for the Eddy Street and Broad Street bridges. Although no lane closures are required, we’re also expected to continue demolition at the Jefferson Boulevard Bridge. We appreciate the continued patience of the motoring public and apologize in advance for any noise these operations may cause.

Warwick Corridor Project

As we finish up our first phase of work, and ready for the second, over the next two weeks, we’re scheduled to shift travel lanes at the newly built bridges carrying westbound travel. Tonight, Friday night, September 19, we’ll shift the westbound lane to the right onto the newly built side of the bridges that pass over I-95. The lane will then shift to the left where the road crosses I-295. On Friday night, September 26, both westbound and eastbound lanes will shift onto the newly built bridges. All ramps and exits will remain open, except for Route 113 East to I-95 North. That ramp was closed in early May, and it will remain closed for the rest of the year. Next week at this project, expect alternating lane closures to remove debris shielding on both directions of I-95 at the East Avenue overpass, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Other operations not requiring lane closures are grading and paving the roadway east and west of the I-295 bridge, waterproofing and paving the I-295 bridge, and installing curb and guardrail.
