đź“° News

During the Easter Season, we will formally welcome new people into the Catholic Church who have engaged themselves in the process of Adult Christian Initiation. We welcome those joining from other Christian denominations as well as Catholics receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. Here are some of their stories.

From Kellye Rogers

My Catholic faith found its footing at the Brooklyn Oratory, a community where I feel genuinely at home. As an adult convert, that foundation matters—faith for me is about accepting something greater than myself, something I cannot see, prove, or control, and choosing to live faithfully anyway. I am learning from this community how to trust God more deeply, and to live that faith quietly, faithfully, and with compassion.

From Paul Chin:

I am joining the Catholic Church for its strong sense of community, its shared and historic faith, and the guidance it provides for family life. I want to raise our daughter within a tradition that offers both spiritual depth and practical direction.

Sunday, March 15, 4:00pm, St. Boniface

Oratory Vespers at St. Boniface

Let’s pray together at the Oratory Vespers on Laetare Sunday and so enter more deeply into the Lenten season. Participating in Vespers can be a perfect way to slow down and prepare for Easter. We’ll mark the halfway point of Lent through prayer, scripture, song, and reflection. Assumption parishioner, Amaka Uzoh, will reflect on Sunday’s reading from Ephesians 5:8–14.

Friday, March 20, 6:00–9:00pm, Assumption Hall

SJAC (Social Justice Action Committee) Film Night

Get to know Leo From Chicago at the SJAC-sponsored potluck supper and film screening of the documentary retracing the story, family roots, studies, and Augustinian vocation of Robert Francis Prevost in his native United States. After the film, Fr. Anthony Andreassi, and Oratory parishioners Dominic Preziosi, editor of Commonweal, and Julius Lang will lead a discussion on the first American Pope, the Augustinians, and what it could mean for our Church today and in the future. Please bring a meatless dish, treat, or beverage to share.

Monday, March 30, 2026, both parishes

Reconciliation Monday

As we prepare for Easter, in addition to our regular weekly times for confession, we will observe “Reconciliation Monday." Churches throughout the Diocese of Brooklyn, Rockville Centre, and the Archdiocese of NY will offer extended periods for the celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation (aka Sacrament of “Confession” or “Penance”).

Confessions will be available at various times at both Assumption and St. Boniface, and we will celebrate a communal penance service (with confessions) at St. Boniface at 7:00pm. Click here for the schedule.

Parish Pilgrimage to Rome

Join Fr. Mark Paul and Fr. Anthony this October (9th to 16th) for a pilgrimage to Saint Philip Neri’s Rome. More information on registration will be forthcoming soon. If you would like to put your name on the list now, please email Fr. Anthony at aandreassi@oratorychurch.org

Mass Intentions

Usually a modest donation is given for this. In the coming weeks we have several Masses with no particular intentions. If you would like to have a Mass offered for someone (living or deceased), email the parish office at info@oratorychurch.org or click here.
