Schedule of Events
Lakeside Chautauqua’s Fourth of July celebration has been modified to maintain the safety of our guests, residents, staff and community. The new schedule provides safe social distancing, while maintaining social closeness and human connection. See our list of updated events and activities below and
read our safety protocols prior to your arrival
. In the case of inclement weather, all outdoor activities will be cancelled.

Parades
There will be no Children’s Bike Parade or Fourth of July Float Parade this year due to COVID-19 safety concerns.

|
Live Entertainment
As part of the Fourth of July festivities, all are invited to enjoy
afternoon and evening music
in Bettinger Park. JK All Day, Carpenter Ants, Rick Kelley and Hey Mavis will perform at the Pavilion or Steele Memorial Bandstand.
While some seating is provided, guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets and to practice safe social distancing.

Hotel Lakeside Dining Room
The
Hotel Lakeside Dining Room
will be open from
11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, July 4. Afternoon Tea will be served at 2 p.m. or 3:15 p.m. by reservation; call (419) 798-4461, ext. 257.
Table service at the outdoor courtyard and dining room will be open, as well as carryout and delivery service.

Fourth of July Cookout
Lakeside’s new caterers, Ward Catering, will provide a
cookout
from 12-3:30 p.m. on the Hotel Lakeside lawn. The menu features BBQ chicken, burgers, brats, hot dogs, mac & cheese, potato salad, baked beans, watermelon, chips, cookies, root beer floats, bottled water, canned pop and Gatorade. A la carte items are $1-5 or order a $10 platter or $4 kids’ platter. All major credit cards and cash accepted.

Restaurants, Shops & Services

Recreation
Recreational venues and activities open on the Fourth of July include shuffleboard, miniature golf, kayak and standup paddleboard rentals, fishing, basketball, sand volleyball, playgrounds and lake swimming (weather permitting).
The Grindley Aquatic & Wellness Campus Pool, Fitness Room, Williams Tennis Campus and Hubbard Pickleball Center will also be open. Reservations are required for these venues and activities and can be made at

24 hours in advance).

Light Up Lakeside
Consider participating in
Light Up Lakeside
, a community-wide event that encourages all to decorate cottages, RVs, businesses and golf carts with patriotic décor and lights. Get creative by using flags, banners, Christmas lights, luminaries and lanterns.

Fireworks
At 9:45 p.m.,
fireworks
will offer a spectacular finale to the day. A barge will launch the fireworks. To practice safe social distancing, we encourage you to spread out along entire lakefront. Watch for signs at the Pavilion about dock closure for the day.
Please note: guests are not permitted to reserve space for the fireworks until Saturday, July 4. Blankets and chairs may be removed by staff if necessary.
In the event of inclement weather, the fireworks will be moved to Sunday, July 5.

Admission & Parking
Admission to Lakeside requires a (one-day)
Daily Chautauqua Pass
, $17/adult and $10/youth (ages 12-24). Children under age 12 and guests over age 90 are always free, but require complimentary passes, which are available upon entering Lakeside.
Season Chautauqua Passes
are also available for adults and youth. A Partial Day Chautauqua Pass (three hours) is available for $6. To limit physical contact at the gates, scanning barcoded passes will be suspended this summer.
A
Daily Auto Pass
is required for parking on the grounds ($13 per day), the South Gate Parking Lot ($7 per day) or the Danbury School Parking Lot ($2 per day). A complimentary shuttle service runs inside the Lakeside gates, but there is no shuttle service provided to or from the school.
Gate Hours
Due to the effects of COVID-19, we have reduced the number of gate attendants and have closed some of our gate entrances for the summer. The new gate hours are as follows:
- Fifth Street Gate: open 24 hours/7 days a week
- South Gate: 7 am-10 pm Sunday-Thursday; 7 am-11 pm Friday-Saturday
- East Second Street Gate: 7 am-10 pm Sunday-Thursday; 7 am-11 pm Friday-Saturday
- West Second Street Gate: 7 am-10 pm Sunday-Thursday; 7 am-11 pm Friday-Saturday
- Welcome Center: Closed most days, but may open for weekends
