“Add a dose of fun to your promotions."

Bo Pilgrim

Like many who earn fame and fortune, Bo Pilgrim of Pittsburg, Texas, had more than one side. Many of us remember the mega chicken plants, colorful quips, zany television ads, and his generous charity work. His foundation is building a new community center in Mount Pleasant, where many former Pilgrim's Pride employees and their families still live.

Pilgrim's virtues included devotion to his family and his pet chicken Henrietta but he was also known for bribing members of the state senate with large checks so egregiously that they later passed a law against it. Maybe he had more character flaws. Besides, who knows what really happened to Henrietta?

Turn to County Line's eMagazine for new stories about other colorful and influential Upper East Side Texans such as Opal Lee, Chris Tomlin, Ross Perot, artists John Biggers and George Criner, and many more.
