Fox Files                                                     April 2016
I have built quite a pleasant life for myself.  And so have you.  We have collected together.  We have established norms that let us feel comfortable with each other.  We protect and reinforce our way of life.  We've used modern media to tighten our circles, to invite the like-minded to form coalitions and parties.  We have defined "polite society" as a perfect small sphere around us.  We have well defined borders.

We have left others on the margins.  The different, the unusual, the foreign, the newcomer have been gerrymandered out of polite society.  As we continue to homogenize and reinforce, those appear less and less palatable.  But each of those groups or parties or movements or lifestyles are each but the center of their own "polite societies" and they coalesce and reinforcement to the community or the world is a field for them to bounce about like so many billiard balls.

I propose that we deliberately engage our own margins. That we view the world from the inside of their "polite societies" to better know ourselves and to soften, and to blur and to invite and to accept and to achieve a far more
polite society.
