PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear HMS Families,

Last week, we successfully participated in the Great California ShakeOut, providing our students and staff with an important opportunity to practice our emergency response procedures. In addition to our evacuation protocols, we simulated our first aid, targeted rescue, and student reunification processes to ensure we are prepared to respond effectively in the event of an emergency. A special thank you to our parent volunteers who generously gave their time to help us practice these procedures. I also want to commend our students and staff for taking the drill seriously and demonstrating their commitment to keeping our campus safe.

This week, our staff also participated in a meaningful day of professional development focused on school safety and instructional excellence. We are especially grateful to the San Marino Fire Department for providing valuable safety training and sharing their expertise with our team. I would also like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Wolf for leading an engaging and thought-provoking session on equitable grading practices. These opportunities for professional learning help us continually reflect on and strengthen the ways we support all students.

Finally, I want to remind everyone that our Hauntington Breakfast is this Saturday! We are looking forward to a fun day of community, connection, and HMS spirit. We hope to see all of our Fox families there!

Go Foxes!

Best,

Michelle Cota

SING AND DANCE!

Come join me Wednesday, November 4th at lunchtime in the library for an exciting introduction to our upcoming Huntington Middle School’s production of Matilda! I’ll share more about the show, what to expect from the rehearsal process, audition and casting information, and all the fun that goes into bringing a musical to life. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or curious about trying theater for the first time, I’d love to see you there. This is such a fun, heart-filled show about standing up for yourself, finding your voice, and discovering just how powerful you can be. I can’t wait to get to know each of you, see what you bring to the room, and create something really special together.

We’re going to work hard, take risks, support one another, and have a lot of fun along the way. Bring your questions! I’ll see you there!
