Let Your Voice Be Heard
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is holding public meetings in response to the Request for Information (RFI) published on May 1, 2018 in the  Federal Register.

These public meetings provide a forum to gather stakeholder inputs about the current state of Federal technology transfer and the public’s ability to engage with Federal laboratories and access federally funded R&D through collaborations, licensing, and other mechanisms.

Registration  is open for these public forums scheduled from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon local time, with seats currently available at the following forums:
  • May 31, 2018, Hilton Chicago/Oak Lawn, Oak Lawn, IL.
  • June 14, 2018 NIST Campus in Gaithersburg, MD.

Suggestions on federal policy changes and best practices in technology commercialization from federal research dollars are among the ideas being solicited.

Brian Darmody and David Baker are leading the effort to respond to the RFI on behalf of AURP. They plan to update the AURP policy document  Power of Place 2.0: The Power of Innovation  and submit it to NIST. Research park managers and others are encouraged to work with their universities or other stakeholders and participate in the process by attending the public meeting and submitting comments and best practices by the July 30 deadline.
