FRANCISCAN FEDERATION OF THE SISTERS AND BROTHERS OF THE UNITED STATES
April 2022 | Volume 1, No. 8
Message from the Co-Presidents
During this Easter Season we focus on the empty tomb, not a symbol of death but rather of new life. Since the last National Board Briefing much activity has been taking place as you will see in this report. In addition, the Search Committee has been reviewing resumes and interviewing potential candidates as we look to filling the position of our Executive Director. May all the efforts of many of the Franciscan Federation Members, National Board and our collaborators be blessed with new life for the Franciscan Federation. Please note that on May 1 the AFC “late registration fee” begins. Register now at a reduced fee!  See you in Pittsburgh for the AFC 2022!

They also support the following recommendations to be voted on during the AFC:

  • Change regions to geographical time zones to facilitate programing
  • Change the title of the Commission of Charism Services to Franciscan Life and Mission
  • JPIC Committee become a commission
Celebrating the TOR Rule and Life
The IFC-TOR General Assembly that will be held May 9-15 in Rome will commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the TOR Rule and Life. Sister Deborah Lockwood, a member of our Transformation Task Force II, is the current chairperson of the Conference. The assembly will celebrate our call to live in right relationship with God, our planet and all our sisters and brothers. They will gather to proclaim our ongoing commitment to live the gospel and our desire to incarnate more fully the essential values of humility, contemplation, poverty, and evangelical conversion. Franciscan Federation Co-President, Sr. Kathy Warren will participate in the Conference representing the Federation. Let us join this celebration in spirit and as we anticipate the 40th Rule Anniversary on December 8, 2022.
