Frankenstein's Kiddie Carnival

Ghosts and goblins are wanted for a night a fun! Children ages 2-10 put on their best Halloween costume and join us for carnival games, crafts, an inflatable, and a spooky fun time 6 to 8 p.m., October 13 at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center. Cost is $15/$19 resident/non-resident and includes 12 tickets, crafts and popcorn. Additional tickets are available on site for purchase. On-site registration also is available.

Early Bird Rate ends October 15

Registration is OPEN for the Park District's youth basketball leagues for boys and girls in kindergarten through eighth grade. Volunteer coaches introduce participants to the fundamentals of playing basketball through weekly practices and weekend games. The league emphasizes proper techniques, knowledge of the rules, team strategy, participation and fun. Enrollment is limited, so register early. Early bird rate ends October 15.

Haunted Hayrides

Bone-chilling thrills abound on these spooky fun-filled hayrides on the trail at Eaton Preserve 5 to 9 p.m., October 20-21. Non-scary rides are offered 5 to 6 p.m., each night, and cost $10. Scary rides are 7 to 9 p.m. and cost $15. Day-of registration is available if spots are open.

Spooky Sprint

The Spooky Sprint Fun Run is fast approaching! Enjoy a one-mile themed run around Eaton Preserve October 21. Race kicks off at 10:31 a.m. Participants receive a shirt and swag bag that includes a unique, event-themed giveaway along with some other cool items. All runners MUST be registered one month prior to the start of their run to be guaranteed their shirt size.

FREE Use of Indoor Track

The indoor track at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center is now FREE to all residents from 1 to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday! Those interested in using the track must show proof of residency (driver’s license, state identification, etc.). Track is open to ages 12 and up. Ages 12-13 must be with a parent/guardian. Strollers are not allowed on the track.

NEW! Indoor Soccer League

This NEW indoor soccer league is for ages 3-17 and takes place on turf at the Go Pro Dome, located nearby in Minooka. Games are played on reduced sized fields to aid in player development. There is no practice; games only. Game times do not conflict with Plainfield Park District youth basketball league game times for each grade level. Registration deadline is December 15 or until full.

NEW! Indoor Flag Football League

Enjoy all the positive aspects of football without the physical risks in this NEW indoor flag football league for ages 7-9 and 9-11. Participants develop skill position fundamentals along with sportsmanship, strategy, teamwork, self-control and self-discipline while competing and having fun! League plays 6v6 with a maximum of 12 players per team. Registration deadline is December 15 or until full. League takes place on turf at the Go Pro Dome, located nearby in Minooka.

NEW! Parent Tot Tumbling

Parent Tot Tumbling is 30 minutes of semi-instruction teaching your little one how to do forward rolls, log rolls and balance beam. Children ages 2-3 learn something new each week. Class runs 9 to 9:30 a.m., Saturdays, October 21 through November 18 at the Streams Recreation Center.

Scout's Summer Fun Hunt runs through October 31! Download the app, visit our parks, complete challenges, earn points and win prizes! Prize packages are now available for pick-up at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center through November 10.
