This fun night in will be hosted by Foundation Executive Director Bob Kennedy and Foundation Board President Stacie McGlone. Throughout the evening, learn how the Foundation raises money, and hear first-hand testimonials from students and staff on the various ways the funds raised benefit Lincoln-Way 210. Raffles and silent auction open February 13, and tune in to the event on February 20 to win some amazing prizes through the premier auction.
Due to COVID-19, the Foundation has had to cancel or modify many programs. In order to continue to generate financial support with which to enrich and enhance the opportunities and educational experiences of Lincoln-Way High School District 210 students, the Foundation needs your help now more than ever. “We provided more than $23,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors in 2020 and with the support of the community, we hope to exceed that amount in 2021,” said Kennedy.
This event is free, so register today to be automatically entered into a $100 gift card raffle for those who register by noon on February 18, 2021. Visit https://lwef2021.givesmart.com to view and bid on silent and premier auctions or donate directly to the Foundation. Those unable to attend can still bid on silent auction or raffle items by registering at https://lwef2021.givesmart.com. Proceeds from the event are used for scholarships and classroom enhancements, which can be viewed at https://youtu.be/3ZRN21oGV2w.
Virtual Program: Vision Board Workshop on Tue. Jan. 19 at 7pm. Ready to take a pause and define what you want in life? Attend this virtual workshop to visualize your dreams, desires, and goals. In this self-guided session, you will create a collage of images and/or words that will make your Vision Board, also known as a Dream Board or Life Map. Librarian Jill Ganeshan will facilitate a short orientation and meditation first, then you will be encouraged to concentrate on your Vision Board by working independently in silence (or with the presenter's or your own meditative playlist). We will conclude with discussion and optional sharing. Some materials will be provided but some you'll need to supply from home. No experience necessary.
Coping with COVID-19: "The Past" and "The Future" on Thu. Jan. 21 at 7pm. Listen to two 15-30 minute episodes of the Checking In with Susan David podcast on Apple Podcasts or Spotify, and join us on Zoom to talk about how you’re dealing with the pandemic as the weather gets colder and as we’re all going more stir-crazy. This week's program titles are "Your Past, Present, Future Self" and "Wisdom for the Future."
COVID-19 and our Food System on Tue. Jan. 26 at 7pm. This presentation explores the risks of industrialized animal agriculture as a breeding ground for zoonoses and how the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed and exacerbated systemic injustice in the U.S. food system, from the mass “depopulation” of farm animals to the disproportionate impacts on agricultural workers, low-income communities, and communities of color. In recent years, science has confirmed the inhumane and destructive impact of animal agriculture — a food system based on interrelated oppression and injustice. Farm Sanctuary humane educator Aliana Turkel will present the talk.
