Thank you for another successful Glow Ball!

Saturday’s Glow Ball was a huge success with hundreds of Franklin-Randall community members dancing and glowing the night away.

We would love to hear what you thought of the event! Please consider taking 3-5 minutes to fill out this survey to let us know what worked and what we can improve upon for next year. https://forms.gle/XmSWmksu1x5j6xBv6

This event would not have been possible without volunteers! We had over 60 volunteers this year, including parents, alumni, community members, and student volunteers from West High!

Exploring Potential Math Curriculum with Principal Powers

At the MMSD Instruction Workgroup meeting on February 2, 2026, our very own Principal Powers participated in a committee that shared updates on a potential new math curriculum MMSD is exploring for grades K–8. The proposed rollout would begin in middle schools in 2026–2027, with elementary schools following in 2027–2028.

Internal Transfer Requests - Changes to the Application Windows

The internal transfer process provides an opportunity for students to attend an MMSD school that is outside of their regular MMSD attendance area. Please note that MMSD does not provide transportation for students attending under an internal transfer.

First Round

Apply online starting February 2nd, 2026. Round 1 application closes at 4pm on April 30, 2026.

Internal transfer applications are processed through a lottery and not in the order they are received;  first-come, first-serve does not apply. Applicants will know if their request has been approved or placed on a waitlist on or before May 15. Students on the wait list will know if their application has been approved or denied on July 1. Requests on the wait list are processed before second round requests.

Second Round

Second round application opens April 30 at 4pm, and closes June 10 at 4pm.

Applicants will know if their request has been approved or denied on

or before July 1.

Schools at Capacity

The District has finished the process for determining which schools will be accepting applications for new internal transfers beginning next school year. For a school to be closed, they must be over 95% of its current capacity and over 80% of its maximum capacity.

Based on these factors, the following schools will not be accepting Internal Transfer applications for the 2026-27 school year:

Elementary (Grades KG-4th)

Huegel Elementary

Randall Elementary

Van Hise Elementary

Note: Because we will attempt to grandfather students in Grade 5, we allow families to apply to these schools if their student currently attends that school in Grade 4.

Middle (Grades 6-7)

Gillespie Middle

Hamilton Middle

Note: Because we will attempt to grandfather students in Grade 8, we allow families to apply if their student currently attends that school in Grade 7.
