October 2023 Newsletter

“Autumn leaves don't fall, they fly. They take their time and wander on this their only chance to soar.”

A Word from Our CEO:

Krystin Albert; RN, BSN

October is National Physical Therapy Month, a month dedicated to raising awareness to the lifelong benefits of physical therapy, as well as recognizing the critical role physical therapists play in transforming lives. This month also recognizes the importance of movement as a key factor in preventing and improving chronic pain conditions. While the health benefits of physical activity are well documented, an estimated 25 percent of adults remain physically inactive. On top of that, about half of all adults are dealing with a musculoskeletal condition that makes it difficult to participate in physical activity. Many health conditions affect the bones, joints and/or muscles, and the pain associated with these conditions can be debilitating, limiting tolerance to daily activities, sleep, and overall quality of life.

The good news is that often the pain associated with many medical conditions may be effectively treated with physical therapy. Physical therapists are trained to evaluate and properly treat individuals on better managing their conditions and preventing future injuries or health issues. Individualized treatment plans are created by the physical therapist to help people reach their long-term goals, which most often involve returning to the level of independence to which they’re accustomed. Our highly skilled team of physical therapists have a proven track record of helping patients meet their recovery goals, with outstanding outcomes that ensure they’re getting back to health and life sooner. Our Physical therapists continue to make a positive difference in the lives of our patients by improving their health, their mobility, and their confidence. They are making our communities a better place, one day—and one patient visit—at a time. Our team of therapists are available when you need us.

If you, or someone you know, could benefit from therapy services give us a call at 603-934-3454 or visit franklinvna.org.

Benefits of Physical Therapy

The main goal for physical therapy is to support those who are suffering from a debilitating physical state, helping to bring them back to a more normal state of health after an injury. It is a crucial step for many patients who have suffered from cardiopulmonary or neurological issues as well as those who are suffering from more permanent disabilities. Physical therapists work with patients with different types of injuries, employing a variety of different techniques that will aid in their ability to maintain their lives. That includes techniques that are designed to decrease stiffness and pain while increasing strength, mobility, and general motion.

FVNAH's Newest Team Member!

Hi, my name is Ma Luisa LaPointe. My nickname is Malou. I am married and I live in Laconia. I graduated from nursing school in 1988, worked in the Philipines for a couple of years, and then went to the Middle East. There, I worked in K.S.A and Kuwait for 10 years as an ICU nurse. I came to the USA in December of 2000 to pursue my "American Dream". I started working at a nursing home and then went to LRGH. I was an orthopedic nurse for 7 years there. I love to travel with my husband and play golf. I enjoy reading James Patterson's novels as well. I am so excited for this new adventure with FVNAH and working in the field of home health nursing!
