FLA Live: Fraternal Webinar Series - September Edition

Join us on Thursday, September 18, at 8:00 PM EDT for the next edition of our monthly FLA Live! webinar series. This month we will be discussing all things related to Evangelization and Faith Formation, including a successful Cor Council Spotlight from Cheshire, CT. Membership Growth and Fraternal Operations will also provide important updates.

Click on the button below to register. And remember, if you can't join us live, the webinar will be available on-demand after, to watch at your convenience.

It's Easy to Find Time for Fraternal Training

We’ve updated the Fraternal Training page to make our on-demand training more easily accessible. Visit kofc.org/training to find online training for state, council, district and assembly officers, as well as important instruction for handling Operations (including Administration, Finances and Forms), Growth & Retention, and Programs & Engagement. Training is reviewed on a continuing basis, so you will always get the most up-to-date information. Best of all, these on-demand sessions are available to view at any time, on your own schedule, and the average length of each session is only 30 minutes!

The Fraternal Training page is also where you can go to register for upcoming episodes of the FLA Live! Webinar series or view previous episodes on-demand. You will also find links to essential Officer Resources and our Library of short how-to videos in the Fraternal Video Library.

Introducing Membership Enrollment Cards

Church Drives are about to get easier – and more effective – thanks to a new item: membership enrollment cards. These cards, which you and your brother Knights can hand out before Mass, give men an opportunity to fill out their information and indicate their desire to sign up for e-membership at no cost for the first year. Click here to see the card!

We’re also excited to introduce a new how-to guide for councils to successfully implement a membership drive using the new membership enrollment cards. Click below to download the guide!

These items are available for order on Supplies Online by clicking on the Membership Enrollment Card folder in Membership Recruitment.

Reminder: Your council can compete to receive prizes from the Supreme Council Home Office when you meet a minimum of 100% of your 2025-2026 Fraternal Year membership quota between July 1 – October 31, 2025! *

*Incentive applies to insurance jurisdictions only.

Please submit the completed forms to FraternalMission@KofC.org.

Important Reminders for Fraternal Leaders

District Deputy

  • Complete an Annual Report on Council Status (#944) for each council in your district, whether functioning or not. These easy online reports should be submitted right after the District Organization Meeting and are due by September 15. You can find a short tutorial on how to successfully complete and submit this form on the “Forms” tab of the Fraternal Video Library.
  • Confirm that all of your councils have submitted the Report of Officers Chosen for the Term (#185, due July 1), Service Program Personnel Report (#365, due July 1), and Semiannual Council Audit (#1295, due August 15).
  • Work with your councils to schedule at least one Exemplification of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity per month in the district. Share the schedule with all your councils. The script can be found in the publication Protocol, Meetings, and Ceremonials (#11620), which is available to download, or can be ordered through Supplies Online.
  • Review the requirements for Star District and work with your state leaders on strategies to earn this award.
  • As you work on your DD Annual Report #944, please report if your councils ran Cor last year and if they will start or run Cor again this year.
  • Please remind councils that the EFF director position needs to be submitted via a separate form Council EFF Director Submission Form for Fraternal Year 2025-2026 (online submission only).

Grand Knight

Financial Secretary

  • Verify and update member contact information on the Member Management application available at Officers Online. The grand knight might have the most current email addresses for all members, but it is important that this information is also recorded with the Supreme Council. Any changes in member phone, address or email should be updated at the local and supreme council level.
  • View the short training videos on how to get the most out of Member Management and Member Billing.
  • Review the Fraternal Excellence Guide (#11619) for the latest information on council operations and the role of Financial Secretary.

Fourth Degree

  • The Fourth Degree will host the next training session in September.
  • District Master and Assembly quarterly training will be on September 22, 2025 at 8:00 PM EDT: "Drill Manual Update Review."
  • We will invite the District Masters, Faithful Navigators, and ALL Assembly Officers to this meeting.
  • District Masters can email any questions to: Michael J. Porter, Fourth Degree Director of Training: MJPKNIGHT9282@AOL.COM

Programs

Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest

Each year, councils invite children in grades 8-12 to write unique essays on topics of interest. This year’s topic is timely: In an essay of 500-750 words, out of the 267 popes that have led the Catholic Church, who are your three favorite popes and why? Contact schools, parish families, and home school groups as soon as possible to promote this program. Students should write their essay in September as judging takes place at the council level in October. Your Council will be amazed at the beautiful write-ups you receive. For more information, please review the program's Guidebook.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month: Sept. 15 – Oct. 15

Share this poster with your council and parish to highlight some of the most important saints of the Americas this month. The Order has also launched new Faith in Action programs that appeal to Hispanic communities including Bright Futures, Celebrating Our Catholic Heritage, and Remembering Our Faithful Departed. Consider running at least one of those programs this fraternal year!

Help Provide the Gift of Warmth

Knights of Columbus Coats for Kids® is a vital program that provides the gift of warmth to children in need. Through the dedication of councils across the United States and Canada, 1.5 million new winter coats have been distributed to children across all 50 U.S. states and all 10 Canadian provinces since the program began in 2009.

Through our partnership with Knights Gear, cases of high-quality winter and lightweight coats are available to councils at discounted prices (pricing can be found here in the US and here in Canada).

To help councils with their fundraising efforts, we have developed a new Coats for Kids Fundraising Guide. The toolkit and all associated marketing assets are available to fraternal leaders in the U.S. and Canada through Supplies Online under Faith in Action > Fundraising Guides. As fraternal leaders, please work with your councils to let them know these fundraising resources are now available!

Evangelization and Faith Formation

Cor Central Newsletter

If you or someone on your team isn’t receiving the Cor Central newsletter, you can sign up here: Subscribe to Cor Central.

Looking for New Cor Content?

The Blessed Michael McGivney Cor sessions are a great way to help men learn more about our Founder as the anniversary of his beatification approaches on Oct. 31.

If your council hasn’t yet started Cor, you’ll find these sessions to be an easy entry point with content allowing for personal and relatable discussion.

Councils already hosting Cor will also find the content valuable in getting to the heart of Father McGivney.

Officers with access to Supplies Online can purchase the Blessed Michael McGivney Cor session booklets for $3 each. Download and print a free digital copy of Blessed Michael McGivney Cor sessions at kofc.org/shopcis.

Annual Surveys Now Arriving!

You and the members of your council will soon be receiving the 2025 Annual Survey in the mail. This survey is an opportunity for each Brother Knight to update us so that we can better support him and his family. The survey can be completed and returned via mail OR completed online by following the instructions in the packet.

We ask that you lead by example and complete your survey and encourage others in your council to do the same. Upon receiving your updates, we’ll be better able to inform you of the member benefits applicable to you and your family – benefits you may not be taking advantage of yet. You deserve the opportunity to take advantage of all the exclusive benefits offered to you as a Brother Knight.

Every Knight that completes this year’s Annual Survey will be entered for a chance to win a Knights of Columbus RTIC Cooler.
