Fraternal Operations

Is your council on track to earn Star Council?

There are already 146 councils that have earned the Star Council Award. Review the criteria and finish the year strong so your council can join this list of high performers.

Council Officer Corner

Grand Knight

  • Craft an effective communication plan to engage all council members. Form a committee to verify contact information and then update Member Management.
  • Consider holding an in-person Exemplification of Charity, Unity and Fraternity before the end of the fraternal year. This is a great way to bring the community together and add new members to your council.
  • Hold your council officer elections between May 1 and June 15 and submit the Report of Officers Chosen for the Term Form 185 by June 30.
  • Schedule a transition meeting with outgoing and incoming officers and directors.

Financial Secretary

  • Timely processing of member additions and changes is critical as we approach the end of the fraternal year. Form 100s need to be processed by June 30. You can submit a paper form or use the Candidate Tab on Officers Online.
  • Immediately after officer elections submit the Report of Officers Chosen for the Term (#185) and Service Program Personnel Report (#365) using the Member Management application. View a short 'How To' video on using Member Management here. These forms are essential for effective communication between the Supreme Council and fraternal leaders.
  • If your council’s annual accounting period ends Dec. 31, then May 15 was the deadline to submit the proper IRS form 990 (US Councils only). Ensure that this paperwork was filed.
