Cor Online Training Event

Cor is an important initiative that is designed to meet the needs of Catholic men. Through prayer, formation and fraternity, Cor seeks to help men become better husbands, fathers, brothers and friends. To help your council better implement and run Cor this fraternal year, the Supreme Council's State Evangelization and Faith Formation team is hosting a virtual Cor webinar tonight; you can register for that here.

For more information on Cor, please visit the newly launched Cor website at www.Kofc.org/Cor.

Affiliate Member Initiative Update

The Affiliate Member Initiative (AMI) is still in its pilot stages in the United States and Canada only. A time window for new submissions to the affiliate class has yet to be determined for the 2023-2024 Fraternal Year. We wish to remind fraternal leaders that councils that already participated in the AMI may submit new Affiliate Recommendation Lists when they have members that meet the affiliate criteria per Appendix B of the Affiliate Member Initiative Guidebook. Such lists still require approval from your council’s grand knight and district deputy prior to being processed. For more information, please contact us at affiliate@kofc.org.

Post-Convention Toolkit Now Available

The Post-Convention Toolkit is now available with accompanying resources for download on the Online Supply Store access through Officers Online.

The attached Guidebook discusses the various resources that are available for download on the Online Supply Store accessed through Officers Online. The online resources found in the toolkit include materials for Cor, ASAP, Ukraine Solidarity support, membership recruitment and Fraternal Benefit Events.

We encourage you to take full advantage of this critical resource as it will help you unpack the key messages and themes of the Convention as well as participate in key initiatives during this fraternal year.

You can also download your copy today by clicking on the Guidebook image.

Men’s Bible Study Available on Online Supply Store

You can now order Men of the Word, a bible study for Catholic men, on the Online Supply Store. Bulk discounts are available for councils that order at least 10 copies. Greater discounts are available for councils that order at least 25 copies or 50 copies.

You can learn more about Men of the Word here and remember that Men of the Word can be part of the formation content in your council’s regular Cor gatherings

Update - RSVP / FFF / ASAP Application Processing

Due to the high volume of submissions at the end of the fraternal year, RSVP, FFF, and ASAP applications may take 2-3 months for processing. Thank you for your patience. Please consider submitting your 2023-2024 applications early to ensure prompt processing.

District Deputy Corner

  • The NEW Annual Report on Council Status (#944) is due September 15. It’s a simple yes/no twenty two question survey-style report that can be completed on your phone. This new format will provide actionable data for timely support of councils.
  • Review the Safe Environment compliance of your councils. Pay special attention to members that will need to take a refresher course during the fraternal year. Council compliance can be reviewed using the reports tab on Officers’ Online.
  • Don’t wait for your councils to contact you about the Installation of Council Officers – reach out to them, and complete this important ceremony as soon as possible.
  • Visit the Officer Training Archives to find District Deputy Training, which will provide you with tips and best practices to keep your district on track.

Council Officer Corner

Grand Knight

  • The Semiannual Council Audit (#1295) was due on August 15. If you have not submitted it yet, please do so as quickly as possible.
  • Complete the Fraternal Benefit Seminar Form (#11077) as soon as possible after participating in an approved seminar. The simple online form will be simultaneously delivered to the Supreme Council and General Agent.
  • Build a strong leadership bench by identifying future leaders of your council, empowering them to run initiatives, and mentoring them on fraternal operations.
  • Review the Faith in Action program forms reference guide (#11172) so you know what, where, and when to submit for program activity.

Financial Secretary

  • Review Leadership Resources for the latest information on council operations and the role of Financial Secretary.
  • Verify and update member contact information on the Member Management application available at Officers Online. The grand knight might have the most current email addresses for all members, but it is important that any changes in member phone, address or email should be recorded at both the local and the supreme council level.

Programs

Canadians: Support Mothers and Babies through ASAP (Aid and Support After Pregnancy)

Last fraternal year, councils in Canada donated more than $100,000 to pregnancy resource centres and maternity homes through the ASAP program - this year, let’s double that amount!

Visit kofc.org/asap for resources like this Handbook and learn how to get involved.

Ultrasound Initiative

Did your council find a quality pregnancy resource center to support through the ASAP program? If so, ask if it needs a life-saving ultrasound machine for its clients. Studies show that upwards of 80% of women will choose life after seeing an ultrasound image. Visit kofc.org/ultrasound for resources and to learn more.

Pilgrim Icon Program – St. Joseph

Since 1979, 22 million people have participated in 175,000 prayer services featuring a K of C Pilgrim Icon. Consecrate your council to St. Joseph, host a St. Joseph Prayer service or watch the documentary about his life through this popular program. To reserve time with the icon, contact your State Pilgrim Icon Chairmen. Be sure to report your participation through the online Fraternal Programs Report Form (#10784).

Resources are available at kofc.org/saintjoseph.

Coats for Kids

Last Fraternal year, Knights of Columbus councils distributed over 180,000 coats throughout the order. Let us strive to distribute 200,000 coats this year to children in need. This number of coats

will help ensure fewer children are without coats during those frigid winter months. For more information, please visit www.kofc.org/coats. To order coats for distribution, visit www.knightsgear.com in the United States and www.knightsgear.ca in Canada.

Family of the Month

Over the years, councils have nominated many wonderful families for the magnificent work they do at their parish and in their community for Family of the Month. I encourage you to continue nominating these families, so they know their outstanding work does not go unnoticed. Please thoroughly fill out the 10784 form when selecting a family. For more information on this program, please visit www.kofc.org/familyofthemonth.

Employment Opportunity

The Knights of Columbus Fraternal Mission Department has a fantastic job opportunity. Please feel free to forward to any members who may be qualified:

Member Engagement Coordinator (Bilingual in Spanish)
