Journey Into the Desert This Lent

All members are invited to “enter the desert” this Lent with Fr. Innocent Montgomery, CFR, by signing up to receive daily Lenten reflections and weekly videos based on Born of Fire – a daily Lenten devotional for men. During Lent, we are called to pray, fast, and almsgiving – these reflections will not only guide your Lenten prayer but also help you consider the identities of a man. An invitation to opt-in to the daily emails was sent last week to all members. Please encourage the men of your council to sign-up to receive these reflections. Members must sign up by Feb. 7.

If you’d like to dive deeper with Fr. Innocent Montgomery this Lent, we invite you to purchase a special print of Born of Fire from kokfc.org/shopcis.

Support Mothers and Babies Through the (ASAP) Program

Did you know 83% of Americans support pregnancy resource centers, which offer support to mothers both during their pregnancy and after their baby is born? * Pregnancy resource centers need our help to support the women who come through their doors. Your council can help support mothers and their babies through the Aid and Support After Pregnancy (ASAP) program. For every $500 your council or assembly donates to a pregnancy resource center or maternity home (up to $2,000), the Supreme Council will donate $100. Learn more and get involved at kofc.org/asap.

Programs

ASAP and Ultrasound featured in Columbia magazine

Knights helped to build a culture of life by partnering with Catholic medical centers in New York, Michigan, and Virginia through the ultrasound and ASAP programs. Michigan Knights raised over $125,000 in one pass-the-hat effort to help open the Heart of Christ Clinic in Detroit. Virginia Knights have provided 6 ultrasound machines to Tepeyac Clinic since the beginning of the program.

Read the January/February 2024 edition of Columbia for these stories and ideas for how your council can participate in the ASAP and Ultrasound programs.

International Wheelchair Day

March 1st is International Wheelchair Day. Encourage your council to hold a “Wheelchair Sunday” at your parish to help collect funds for wheelchairs – every wheelchair funded is an answered prayer for a person without mobility.

For more information about “Wheelchair Sundays,” visit American Wheelchair Mission’s website at www.amwheelchair.org and the Canadian Wheelchair Foundation at www.cdnwheelchair.ca.

Food for Families

Lent is the perfect liturgical season for participating in the Food for Families program. Consider hosting a 40 Cans for Lent activity with your council – each participant can donate 1 food item for each day of Lent. For every $500 or 1,000 pounds of food donated, the Supreme Council will refund $100 back to the council – up to a maximum of $500 per council per fraternal year. For more information, visit www.kofc.org/food.

Aligning Financial Decisions with Faith

Grounded in Catholic Faith, Knights of Columbus offers access to financial products and services. This video shows our members and prospects that when they insure their family, invest with integrity, and give generously with us, they work to ensure that their financial decisions protect human life, promote human dignity and enhance the common good.
