Important Reminders for Fraternal Leaders | |
|
District Deputy
-
Encourage your councils to submit the Columbian Award Application (#SP-7) as soon as they earn 16 program activities. This ensures timely processing. They should continue to file the Fraternal Programs Report Form (#10784) for all additional programs conducted.
- Make preparations to attend your jurisdiction’s annual State Convention. Ensure that each of your councils plans to attend as well.
-
Conduct a quarterly district meeting to ensure your councils close the fraternal year strong. Review Star Council progress, council election procedures, and have council leaders share best practices.
| |
|
Grand Knight
- Appoint a nominating committee to recommend officers for the next fraternal year. Have the committee look beyond the usual volunteers to find a good mix of candidates representing fresh ideas and sound council practices.
-
Ensure timely processing of your RSVP and Food for Families refund applications by gathering the necessary supporting documentation and submitting the forms early.
-
Complete the Fraternal Benefit Seminar Form (#11077) as soon as possible after participating in an approved seminar.

Financial Secretary
-
Council Payments Due - The Per Capita, Catholic Advertising and Culture of Life levies are due to the Supreme Council before April 10. Failure to pay will result in suspension of the council. A suspended council may not be seated at their state convention, nor are its members eligible to be delegates to the Supreme Council Meeting and Convention. Your council assessment bill can be found in Officers Online on the “Reports” tab.
-
Timely processing of member additions and changes is critical as we approach the end of the fraternal year. If your council is on track to earn Star Council, all form 100s need to be processed by June 30. You can submit a paper form 100 or use the Candidate Tab on Officers Online.

Donate to ASAP at Your State Convention!
If your council hasn’t participated in the ASAP program yet, the “Pass the Hat” incentive is a great way to get involved! Supreme will match 25% of all donations (for up to $50k donated) made at your state’s convention. Donations can be collected prior to the state convention, so set aside some council funds and ask your members to donate to this worthy cause! Contact your state council and ask if they will participate in this year’s incentive!
Mother’s Day is another perfect opportunity to collect funds for mothers in need! Read the ASAP program’s Handbook for ideas including baby bottle or item drives. K of C-branded baby bottles can be purchased on Supplies Online and can be found in the “Pregnancy Center Support” folder on the site.

Global Wheelchair Mission
Since 2003, Knights of Columbus councils from the United States and Canada have sponsored the distribution of over 100,000 wheelchairs to communities in countries around the world as well as in their own hometowns. Today, the need for wheelchairs has reached an all-time high of 100 million people worldwide. Every small donation a council makes towards the Global Wheelchair Mission will go a long way in answering the prayers of those who are mobility inclined. For program details, visit the American Wheelchair Mission or the Canadian wheelchair Foundation.
