Free Volunteer Educational Opportunities
In an effort to support our community of volunteer leaders during these unexpected challenges, Volunteer Fairfax is offering a series of  FREE volunteer management educational opportunities for March and April 2020.
Volunteer Management Roundtable
Friday, March 27th, 10 am – 11 am
Do you lead, coordinate or manage volunteers for your organization?   Join us in a “Go to Meeting” virtual meeting to exchange ideas and share experiences with other nonprofits. We will focus this discussion on developing and promoting virtual volunteering opportunities. We will also leave time for discussion, problem-solving and networking.
Words Matter
Wednesday, April 1st, 9:30 am – 10:00 am
Writing an effective volunteer recruitment blurb is an essential step to achieving the mission of your organization. You want volunteers; you need volunteers. But what you ask can make a world of difference. At this 30-minute webinar, we will address how to best define and describe your volunteer opportunity while answering the basic “who, what, where, when and how” in your recruitment message
Showing Volunteer Impact
Tuesday, April 7th, 9 am – 10 am
As a volunteer manager, you make a difference. Your volunteers make a difference, too . Why don’t people notice this? Improving how we communicate our volunteer impact can make a difference to your volunteers (in quantity and quality), impact your organization and increase your job satisfaction. This workshop will talk about data: what you have, what your need and what others can provide (for free) to support your volunteer impact. We will address the wide variety of audiences important to volunteer managers -- whether the audiences know it or not. This is a great workshop as we prepare for what’s ahead for the nonprofit sector.
Volunteer Management Roundtable
Wednesday, April 15, 12 noon – 1 pm
Do you lead, coordinate or manage volunteers for your organization?  Join us in a “Go to Meeting” dial-in meeting to exchange ideas and share experiences with other nonprofits. We will focus this discussion on current volunteering issues faced by your organization. We will also leave time for discussion, problem-solving and virtual networking.
Starting Smart: Volunteer Recruitment
Thursday, April 23rd, 9:30 am – 10:30 am
The first step to growing a volunteer program can make all the difference to achieve your organization’s mission. This webinar will look at the types of planning, strategic thinking, communications vehicles, interviewing procedures, screening techniques and on-boarding rules to recruiting your newest and best volunteer team members.
Volunteer Management Roundtable
Thursday, April 30, 2 pm – 3:30 pm
This was originally set as an in-person meeting at the City of Fairfax Public Library (10360 North Fairfax Street, Fairfax, VA). If guidelines are still recommending limited face-to-face meetings, we will hold this as an on-line webinar.

Do you lead, coordinate or manage volunteers for your organization?  Join us to discuss a volunteer management "trending topic", exchange ideas and share experiences with other nonprofits. We will also leave time for discussion, problem-solving and networking.
