Free, fun events highlight “Morris Township in Motion”

Summer’s a great time to get outside, car-free and in “Motion” — a season of special events proclaimed by the Township Committee last week and planned by the Morris Township Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC). View Proclamation

JOIN volunteers from TAC for any or all of these events, or DIY at times you choose. (All are eligible to win prizes. See list and how to enter below.)

This Sunday

@ 10 a.m. Guided cycle tour around the Convent Station neighborhood on the easy-riding Loantaka Loop connecting bicycle-friendly roads and park trails. Bring your bike to the Municipal Building parking lot to start. Be sure you have a helmet and a bike you’ve checked over for air in the tires, brakes working well, and a chain oiled and ready to roll. Registration Form (email, drop-off, or bring to the event)

June 3 @ 10 AM: Guided walk around the sidewalk and trail Fairchild Loop

June 24 @ 1 PM: Guided hike in magical Jones Woods

July 8 @ 1 PM: Guided hike around ADA-accessible Jockey Hollow Top Preserve tucked away near the National Park

Any Day You Choose Self-Guided Events

For Adults:

-One session of tennis or pickle ball instruction (usually 6 lessons) (Donated by the Morris Township Recreation Department)

-Advance copies of popular fiction books (Donated by the Morristown/Twp. Library

-Bicycle helmet (Donated by Avenues in Motion)

For the Entire Family:

-A one day family pass to Sunrise Lake (Donated by the Morris County Park Commission)

-A family pass for the Wibit water obstacle fun course or a paddle boat on Sunrise Lake (Donated by the Morris County Park Commission)

Just for Kids:

-Free entry into the Tri-harder kids triathlon (Donated by the Morris Township Recreation Department)

-A Basket of age-appropriate books (Donated by the Morristown/Township Library)

-Bicycle helmet (Donated by Avenues in Motion)
