Civil Rights

December 10th is Human Rights Day, a time to reflect on the ongoing fight for dignity, equality, and justice. PBS LearningMedia offers a powerful look at these themes through its collection on the Civil Rights Movement. Featuring archival news footage, primary sources, and previously unaired interviews from Eyes on the Prize, this resource explores the impact of the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education ruling and the decade of activism and legislation it inspired. It’s an engaging way for learners to connect Human Rights Day to the historic—and continuing—struggle for racial equality in America.
