Free Event: Hamilton’s Untapped Labour Market

Mohawk College’s Challenge 2025 is pleased to host Hamilton’s Untapped Labour Market, a free half-day workforce development discussion. This event will bring together small and medium enterprises to discuss issues impacting the local labour market and to provide resources to support workforce development.

UnCharitable: Now Playing!

The Immigrants Working Centre is happy to announce that we have an exciting fundraising event taking place on Wednesday, April 24th. We will be hosting a screening of the 2023 documentary film, "UnCharitable" at The Westdale Theatre (1014 King St. West, Hamilton). The event will start at 6:30 PM, with the film starting at 7:00 PM.    

 

Our hope is that this event will bring our community together and provide inspiration for our sector, while also raising funds for our programs and services at IWC.

Hamilton Youth in Construction Program

The City of Hamilton’s Xperience Annex in partnership with LiUNA 837 is excited to be offering the 12th Hamilton Youth in Construction Program. This program offers an opportunity for youth to gain experience and certification in the construction industry. The training is being held at the new LiUNA Training Facility. This program will run from May 27th – June 21th, 2024. 

 

Hamilton Youth in Construction is a FREE program for youth and is funded by the MLTSD.

 

There will be a screening and information session on April 30th at 11:00am at the Central Library (55 York Blvd. Hamilton ON) to register please email youthinconstruction@hamilton.ca  

 

We have available space for 10 youth ages 18 to 29.

 

Participants will receive

 

•            Support for transportation to and from the training center

•            $25 a day stipend

•            Personal Protective Equipment and Work Boots

•            Post program job support from LiUNA staff and Xperience Annex Youth Navigator

•            Youth can obtain up to 2 high school credits for completing the program

Kawartha Dairy opened an ice cream retail location in Burlington, employing 26 people


Kawartha employs 26 people at its new location, which features murals for folks to pose in front of, bright open windows, seating area with tables and outdoor benches. People came from all over for opening day so they could try some of the latest Kawartha flavours such as grape, nanaimo bar and maple.

The Craft Beer Bar 'Mosaic' & Coles Bookstore have closed in Hamilton


Coles has been one of the anchor tenants of the iconic Jackson Square mall for decades, after 51 years – Coles in Jackson Square will be shuttering for good as of April 6th, 2024.


One of Hamilton’s most popular craft beer bars has announced its plans to close its doors.
