Financial Assistance is Available for Renters, Landlords, and Homeowners
The pandemic has had a significant impact on the finances and housing stability of many. Fortunately, help is available! There are currently many forms of FREE funding available for renters, landlords, and homeowners, You may be eligible for free money, and our Housing Navigators can help you apply.

Renters
Hudson River Housing has funds available to assist households that have been impacted by COVID-19 and are at risk of losing their housing. New funding has recently been made available, including money designated for City of Poughkeepsie residents, so if you were previously denied funding or did not receive enough to cover your back rent owed, please contact our Housing Navigators to see if you are eligible at 845-337-4407. We are also continuing to help renters in Dutchess County apply for the New York State Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP). More details and all applications are available on our website.
Landlords
Hudson River Housing has been provided funding by Enterprise Community Partners NYS Landlord Ambassador Program to provide financial support and repair grants to small landlords in Dutchess County. Small landlords are eligible for up to $15,000 in assistance per unit, though any request in excess of $15,000 per unit is considered an exception and will require Enterprise’s review and approval. Funds are available on a first come first serve basis, with priority given to those who are legacy owners (have owned property 10 years or longer) and are BIPOC.

Homeowners
The New York State Homeowners Assistance Fund (HAF) is a rescue program offering up to $50,000 to homeowners who faced financial difficulty because of COVID.

Homeowners can apply if they are:
  • In default on mortgage payments, 
  • In forbearance on their mortgage, 
  • In default on a reverse mortgage, 
  • Behind on their property taxes, water or sewage bills,
  • Behind on monthly maintenance charges of your coop or condo.
  • Behind on their chattel loans, retail installment contracts or other types of home purchase loans of your manufactured home.

Applications will be available January 3, 2022. These funds are given on a first come-first serve basis. Our Homeownership Center staff are available to answer questions & assist with submitting the application.
