No Forced Outing in Schools!

Thank everyone for all the support, boldness, and unwavering tenacity that helped get this landmark piece of legislation across the finish line!

We have great news - Governor Newsom just signed AB 1955 into law! With his signature, California becomes the first state in the nation to enact legislation that explicitly protects LGBTQ+ students from dangerous forced outing school policies that have gained prominence in growing national attacks on LGBTQ+ civil rights.

Urge the Governor to Support Equality!

All it takes is one signature from our Governor to turn this bill into law. Let’s stand together for equality and urge Governor Newsom to sign SB 729 today.

📜 Let’s make history! SB 729 is a bill that could change everything for LGBTQ+ individuals and couples seeking fertility treatment. Here’s why it matters:

🏳️‍🌈 Expanding the Definition: SB 729 proposes to redefine infertility to include LGBTQ+ individuals, ensuring that anyone needing medical intervention to conceive is covered.

💰 Equal Access: Companies would be required to cover fertility services for LGBTQ+ individuals just as they do for heterosexual relationships.

👫🏽 One Year Rule: Currently, straight couples must try for a year before insurance covers fertility treatments. This bill aims to level the playing field for everyone!

🌟 Why It’s Important: Updating this definition isn’t just about words; it’s about ensuring that everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, has the same opportunities to start a family.

🌈 Cost of Equality: Yes, fertility treatments can be expensive. But what’s the cost of denying equal access to something as fundamental as starting a family?

🖋️ All it takes is one signature from our Governor to turn this bill into law. Let’s stand together for equality and urge Governor Newsom to sign SB 729 today!

• We give our respect to the Ramaytush and Chochenyo Ohlone people, on whose traditional and unceded land we are grateful to live and work, and on which our San Francisco and East Bay events take place.

• We acknowledge the unpaid labor of the first 12 generations of Americans of African descent, who suffered the horrors of the Middle Passage, two and a half centuries of chattel slavery, and another century of de facto segregation and genocide. We are indebted to their labor, and acknowledge the multigenerational impact of this violence, still felt today.
