As a reminder, teachers are never billed for ACELINK programs; invoices come directly to ACELINK. 

To schedule a program, fill out an ACELINK Program Request Form and the form is sent electronically to ACELINK. The program will be booked and a confirmation e-mail is sent to the teacher.

9-12 Featured Program

Program Name:  Edgar Alan Poe INTERACTIVE WEBINAR
Grade:  8th - 12th
Program Length:  50 minutes
Program Format: A Center staff member takes students on a behind-the-scenes look at classic literature brought to life on the puppet stage. Students engage in a dialogue with the presenter about Poe's work the design concepts of the performance to reveal how they were brought to life on the puppet stage. DVD clips of show excerpts, models of the stage design, and puppets from the performance enhance this program. Theme, point-of-view, and other concepts are discussed. Students will view excerpts from one or more of the following scenes: The Tell-Tale Heart, The Raven, Berenice, The Black Cat, M.S. Found in a Bottle. This is a great arts and literature lesson all in one!


9-12 Featured Program
Mathematica: Beyond Numbers! 
Pre K - 12th
45 minutes
Math is not just defined by numbers. It also involves patterns and relationships. Math is also considered the Mother of all science and is heavily used in physics, chemistry and Biology. Students will learn hands-on the importance of Math with an assortment of activities dealing with Topology, Probability, and Chirality just to name a few. Students will also get the opportunity to design their own game show involving Math as a post-project.

6-8 Featured Program
History of the Silk Road
6th - 12th
40 minutes
This program deals specifically with the Silk Road: where it ran, how it came to be named, who traveled it, its importance in World History, and what it can teach us about world trade today. Please note: this program is NOT about China, or about Chinese culture. Although China was part of the Silk Road, and is mentioned in the program, our focus in on the central piece of the historical route - INNER ASIA.
6-8 Featured Program
Mummy Makers
Penn Museum
6th - 12th
60 minutes
Watch as ancient Egyptian embalmers (O.K. museum educators) prepare Mr. Ulysses Penn for his journey to the afterlife. Using fabricated mummies, students will explore mummification as they witness each step of the process including brain removal, evisceration, desiccation, and wrapping. Students will also investigate the religious significance of mummification. Mummy Makers incorporates both math and science, along with the study of ancient history.
3-5 Featured Program
The Science of Guts
Science Central
K - 6th
45 minutes
In this interactive lab, students will learn the organs involved in the digestive system, understand how the parts work together to digest food, and have the opportunity to create their own diagram of guts. Students will learn the organs involved in the digestive system, understand how the parts work together to digest food and find out why they need to eat a balanced diet.

3 - 5 Featured Program
Words & Music; Teach Language Arts Through Songwriting
3rd - 12th
45 minutes
Words & Music provides students with a creative outlet to express feelings or tell a story through song. Utilizing the museum's award-winning lesson guide, teachers lead students though the lyric-writing process. Students learn key elements of writing, such as the use of imagery, meter, mood, rhythm, and rhyme. At the conclusion of the unit, a songwriter will perform a sampling of students songs and answer questions on the profession and craft of songwriting. This is an engaging and instructive unit that students enjoy and remember for years to come.
 
PK - 2 Featured Program 

A Leaf of a Different Color - Kindergarten through Grade 2
K - 2nd
30 minutes
Why do leaves change color in the fall? Follow a leaf from beneath the bud in winter to a mulch pile the following fall. We will do a leaf rubbing to learn the different parts of a leaf and we will read Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert 


PK - 2 Featured Program

Jump Through the Solar System
Space Center Houston
Pre K - 2nd
30 minutes
Discover what a star is and what the 8 planets in our solar system are. Students will learn fun ways to remember the planets through poems and songs.
