Starting July 1, 2019, New York City establishments found in violation of the
NYC Foam Ban will receive fines. According to our understanding, NYC stores, food service establishments, mobile food vendors, and commissaries may no longer offer, sell or possess single-use foam food containers such as foam takeout clamshells, cups, plates, bowls, trays, and coolers. Additionally, manufacturers, distributors, and stores may no longer sell or offer for sale loose fill foam packaging ("packing peanuts") in the city. For more information, visit

DDC Rehabilitation of Pedestrian Ramps
The NYC Department of Design and Construction will begin work for the Rehabilitation of Pedestrian Ramps Project along Columbus Avenue beginning Tuesday, July 16, 2019. Free West Side Shred Day
State Senator Jose Serrano and Assembly Member Linda Rosenthal will be hosting a summer West Side Shred Day event on Sunday, July 21, 2019 from 10:00am to 2:00pm. During the event, Upper West Siders can bring personal documents to Assembly Member Linda Rosenthal's office at 230 West 72nd Street to shred the papers for free at a shredding truck on-site.
