No-Cost Legal Resources for Low-Income Small Business Owners Impacted by COVID-19

4/21/20

Dear Business Owner, Manager, Representative:

No-Cost, pro-bono legal services are available through Start Small Think Big to help low-income small business owners during the COVID-19 pandemic. These offerings do not cover litigation but can include Business Formation Options (Sole Proprietorship, LLC, Corporation, etc.), Licensing and Other Regulations, Financing, Employment Matters, Commercial Lease Agreements, Contracts, and other legal issues.

Start Small Think Big is a nonprofit organization that provides under-resourced entrepreneurs in the Bay Area with the tools they need to grow their businesses by working with a network of professional volunteers to offer free programs including legal services. To work with Start Small Think Big, you must apply and demonstrate that you and your business meet their low-income eligibility guidelines. You can register to hear SSTB at the City of San Jose’s April 23 3pm legal workshop which will help small business owners with legal questions about COVID-19 SBA loans and grants.

Are There Other Legal Resources I Could Look At?

With best wishes for your health and the success of your business,
Office of Economic Development Team
