Borderline Personality Disorder: Practical Treatment Strategies for Addiction Clinicians

Wednesday, June 10, 2026 | 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm ET

Webinar description: People with borderline personality disorder are commonly treated in settings that are primarily focused on substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, representing over 25% of patients by some estimates. Addiction treatment providers benefit from knowledge about how best to help this important group of people. This webinar will review the evidence supporting different clinical approaches, and provide practical strategies that can be implemented in a variety of SUD treatment settings.

Learning Objectives: Following this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe 2 evidence-based treatments that were developed for the treatment of people with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and substance use disorder (SUD)
  • Describe a practical approach to medication treatment of people with co-occurring BPD and SUD
  • Name one potential benefit of engaging patients who have BPD in structured treatment rather than less structured approaches
