Hello neighbors,

National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated between September 15 - October 15. It's a time to recognize the contributions and cultures of the nation’s fastest-growing population group. The idea started as a special week in 1968 and was expanded to a full month 20 years later. There are currently 60 million Hispanic people in the United States, forming the nation’s largest ethnic or racial minority. Over half of that population resides in California, Texas or Florida, and nearly two-thirds are of Mexican background. Nearly 25 percent of all elementary and high school students nationwide are Hispanic, indicative of a growing population that is expected to reach about 111 million by 2060.

With these facts shared, it's extremely important that residents make sure that everyone is counted during this census count. The US Census door-to-door visits will end September 30. We have a short window to make sure everyone is counted.

The Census Bureau strongly encourages the public to respond online at 2020census.gov. Households can respond either online or by phone in English or 12 other languages.

Make yourself count Miramar!

9/11 We Will Never Forget
2020 marks the 19th anniversary of 9/11.

Every year since that fateful day, the United States comes together to remember the fallen. We remember the first responders and those who made difficult decisions. We remember the thousands of lives lost as a result of the attack and the families, friends and communities impacted by this senseless act.

Together, with the world, the City of Miramar pays homage and will continue to remember.

9/11... we will never forget.

US Census 2020
Currently the City of Miramar has a 71.4% response rate and I am encouraging business owners, presidents of our HOA’s, and property managers of our Condos & Apartment buildings to allow their employees a 15 minute window to complete the survey and for US Census workers access to their communities.

I urge every Miramar resident to make sure their household responds to the Census online at 2020census.gov. or by phone.

We are counting on you Miramar, so make yourself count.

A complete and accurate 2020 Census count is more important than ever as we continue to see the public health and economic impacts of COVID-19. Federal funding based on Census data is allocated towards hospitals, health clinics, schools, community development projects, and so much more. The Census touches every life, every day.

Employers are encouraged to give employees time to complete
the US Census.

All countywide employers are invited to show your love for Broward County by dedicating 15 minutes for your employees to complete the 2020 Census together.

Completing the Census helps ensure that Miramar receives its fair share of federal funding for education, social services, transportation, hospitals, nursing homes, emergency preparedness and to strengthen Miramar businesses.

Help us reach 100% participation by supporting the county’s efforts to count everyone in Broward – from newborns to older adults and everyone in between.

Thank you.
