We have an important, time-saving update to share: NMVTIS checks are now available for free on all transactions as part of the deal submissions process. Vitu worked with Illinois SOS to assist in processing titles more quickly at the state with little to no additional hold/auditing time.
Currently when you E-File transactions, the SOS holds the deal and runs an NMVTIS check on their end, holding your deals in limbo. Now, you simply click the Check NMVTIS button next to the Title Info section of your title and reg submission, clearing up that additional hold time at the SOS.
An NMVTIS check will be run on all transactions that are undergoing final submissions to SOS to validate the Title State, Branding and Issue Date.

- Adding a Title Issue Date helps further validate the current title information entered vs NMVTIS data

If the results of the NMVTIS check match Title state, Brand and Title Issue Date, the user will receive a “Successfully checked NMVTIS” message seen here.

If you attempt to submit the transaction without checking NMVTIS, you’ll see the warning message “You need to check NMVTIS.”
|
If the NMVTIS information does not match the Title State, Brand or Title Issue Date entered, you’ll see an error message letting you know there is a discrepancy.

This update allows you to be in the know with three time-saving features:

- If there are items to report, Vitu automatically generates a report to be submitted with the completed transaction.
- For used vehicles, an NMVTIS report verifies the most current Date Issued of the title submission.
- For new vehicles, an NMVTIS report confirms whether or not a title has been issued.

While standalone NMVTIS reports are always available under the Lookups tab, it is completely free when you run it within the transaction using the Check NMVTIS button.
