Free On-line Training Programs
In addition to the classroom and ZOOM training, don’t forget about the Free on-line training programs we offer that can benefit your staff and company.
Handling Difficult Situations Post-Pandemic
Handling Difficult Situations Post-Pandemic, an on-line training program that will teach employees how to identify and defuse difficult situations, explore the benefits of professionally handling difficult situations and develop strategies to manage behavior, defuse emotion and resolve difficult situations; information that will be useful to them long after the pandemic.
Clean It Right
Clean It Right, an enhanced cleaning program developed specifically for businesses in the tourism industry with the goal of regaining consumer confidence and creating a safe environment for customers and employees.
The pandemic may be over, but the expectations of customers are the same. They want to feel confident that a business is providing a safe environment for themselves and their families.
Clean It Right is a new standard of cleaning that has been customized for whatever business you are in including: hotels, restaurants, retail, gyms, offices & service centres and transportation.
This program is Free to all businesses in Manitoba and you can have your staff take the program more than once, as a refresher.
Business Plan Creator Portal
The new Business Plan Creator portal is an on-line comprehensive program that can literally walk you through the development of a business plan. A business plan is valuable prior to opening or expanding a business as well as to increase the business acumen of the person taking the training.
The Business Plan Creator is Free for the tourism industry and complemented with classroom and ZOOM training. Training is currently taking place. Individuals can take all or part of the classroom and ZOOM training. The next 6-part series will take place in the spring.
Keep Kids Safe
This on-line training program was developed specifically for the hotel industry in Manitoba to help workers identify the signs of child and youth sexual exploitation, and learn how to report it.
This program will help participants understand human trafficking and who the victims are, learn why human trafficking matters to the hotel industry, identify the warning signs of human trafficking and find out what actions they can take and who to contact.
This training program was developed in partnership with the Manitoba Hotel Association and is Free to all hotels in Manitoba.
If you are not a hotel, but would like to take this training, you can also take this training at no cost.

3-Part Training Series for Event Coordinators and Planners
This training series provides valuable information for people who are currently working as event planners as well as those who would like to be event planners! Whether full-time or a function of their position, this training can re-enforce what is being done right, and teach things that could avoid liability and/or failure of an event.
Successful events don't just happen. A successful event is the culmination of planning, preparation and taking care of many details. This 3-Part Series covers everything from the Marketing, Administration, Risk Management and Human Resources involved with coordinating a successful event.
The next series will be delivered in an MTEC classroom, over a three day period, Wednesday, January 18, 9:00am-4:00pm, Wednesday, January 25, 9:00am-4:00pm and Wednesday, February 8 from 9:00am-4:00pm.
Shirley Tillett Scholarship Fund for Event Professionals
Apply for a scholarship to cover the full amount of tuition for the MTEC 3-Part Series for Event Coordinators & Planners. Shirley Tillett, founder of Shirley Tillett and Associates (STA), successfully operated her event planning and training company for over 20 years. She started the, The Shirley Tillett Scholarship Fund for Event Professionals and also founded the Event Professionals of Manitoba Association (EPM).

2-Part Training Series for Fundamentals of Human Resources for Managers
Whether it’s writing a job description, hiring the right person for the job or dealing with performance issues, there are times each day that managers need to utilize their HR skills. This training will assist managers in improving their skills by learning the fundamentals of human resource management, in addition to the other management functions they perform. Today, more than ever, knowing how to attract and retain employees is an important function of this position.
The primary focus of this 2-Day Human Resource Series is to provide managers with both a broad overview of the human resource functions and give them the tools they require to deal with day-to-day human resource issues. They will explore how to effectively develop a comprehensive recruitment toolkit to attract and select staff to behavioral-based interviewing, performance management and staff retention strategies.
The next series will be delivered in an MTEC classroom, over a two day period, Thursday, February 2, 9:00am-4:00pm and Thursday, February 9 from 9:00am-4:00pm.
